Karri couldn't help it, she was crying, and loudly too. She tried to be tough and keep her tears in check, but she couldn't, her arm hurt too much and she couldn't even move it. Somehow she got herself into an upright position at the bottom of the stairs where she had fallen, but her leg was throbbing and it hurt too when she tried to stand up. "Shards, Karri, are you all right?" U'kaiah asked as he hopped down the remaining stairs two at a time. He thought he had heard something!

"I fell." Tears of relief now mixed with the ones of pain at the sight of her friend. "I hurt my arm... and my leg." Karri added weakly as she looked up to U'kaiah. "Can you move your fingers at all?" he asked as he knelt down beside her, gently helping her into a sitting position.

The girl concentrated on her fingers, but then cried out again as frustration and fear started to mix in with the pain. "I can't! They're all fuzzy feeling!"

"It's ok, Karri," he said gently. "It's nothing to worry about. Just stay calm. Is it the leg on the same side that hurts?"

She looked down at her leg, she'd almost forgotten about it, "Yeah...
it's fuzzy too, but not as much. I can move it." She attempted to show him but the movement jarred her arm and she wailed in pain again. "Ok, ok, just let me feel it." U'kaiah carefully felt her leg, asking her about the pain she felt. He finally nodded in satisfaction. As far as his first aid knowledge went, it didn't seem broken. "I think it will be ok. Can you walk on it? Or do you want me to carry you?"

Karri had gotten her sobs somewhat under control during the inspection and she gave a small whimper at the thought of moving at all. "I can walk." she said bravely. The first attempt however proved futile. She couldn't put alot of weight on her injured leg and her attempt to caused her to fall against the wall. "Would I be a big baby if I asked you to carry me?" Karri asked in a piteous voice as she looked up at the bronzerider. "Of course not." Luckily they were only a couple flights away, and Karri was light enough he could carry her easily. He gently lifted her in his arms, good side toward him so his body wouldn't jar her injuries. "Don't worry, Karri. You're going to be just fine."

She wrapped her arm around her hero and buried her face into his shoulder as she tried to hide the pain and tears that erupted with each step. She had never hurt so much in her entire life, not even when she had fallen on to the rocks and split her cheek open. As they finally crossed the threshold into the infirmary she sighed with relief when she saw the healers approaching her to help. She just hoped one of them would be able to dull the pain... and quick!
