A stern talking to

Writers: Clancey, Emma
Date Posted: 31st January 2007

Characters: Daynar, Fieayz
Description: Daynar takes Fieayz to task over her behaviour at Turn's End
Location: Smith Hall (NPC)
Date: month 1, day 4 of Turn 4

It was with some trepidation that Fieayz approached the Hallmaster's office.
She still wasn't sure whether he was going to carry out his threat to write to her father and organise a betrothal, but even so, when asked to visit his office, she went.

"Come." He yelled through the door, sounding as growly as ever.

When Fieayz entered, he pointed to a chair. "Sit. I assume you know why you're here?" He scowled at her, not getting up from his own chair at least.
Thankfully, she'd been wise enough to leave that gold flit of her's in her rooms.

"Yes sir," she said as she took the seat. She hadn't done anything wrong, she was only dancing, and in full view of everyone at the gather. That had to be as much of a chaperone as anyone needed.

Daynar scowled at her for a long moment. "You made quite a spectacle of yourself dancing all that time with that Alrog. You were the talk of the celebration!"

"Sir," she said agreeing with him. What else could she do? She couldn't argue too much, he was likely to send her home, and she wasn't sure how she'd cope with that. Not with Jielta the way she was.

"Well, I just won't tolerate it. I don't want you visiting him alone or otherwise acting the fool, or your father will have trouble finding a mate for you." Daynar paused and his scowl lifted briefly.

"You'll be glad to know I'm not punishing you in any other way; I'll keep you here until your Father sends for you." Another faint pause as he considered her reaction to what he _was_ going to do. "I am, however, sending to Fielton to see if he can have you betrothed soon; you're obviously ready since you're paying so much attention to that Alrog. He's arrogant and I don't like him, but it will be your Father who makes your match, not I."

She liked Alrog, and he certainly wan't any of those things that Daynar had said, not in the slightest. "I understand sir," was all she said.

His frown returned, looking over the young woman sitting so quietly in the chair. She seemed to have learned not to speak up much, not when he was in this mood. His daughter had yet to learn that lesson as well.

"Very well, Fieayz. You may go. Do not repeat this behavior until you're properly betrothed. And don't be surprised if you hear from your Father soon.
I will be writing him about this incident."

"Thank you sir. I'll head back to my duties now."

Daynar finally nodded. "Yes, and stay out of trouble." His growly voice didn't sound any calmer than when she'd sat down. He was still angry enough to spit, and it was in this frame of mind he planned on writing to Fielton.
Something needed to be done with his daughter soon, unless Miralani wanted to take her under her wing and straighten her out!

Fieayz virtually ran out of the Hallmaster's office. There was no way she was going to change anything, but if Daynar thought that she would, then it might keep him off her back for long enough.

Frowning after her, Daynar picked up a quill and began to scratch on a hide on his desk. "Dear Fileton, Hallmaster of Vintner Hall..."
