An Official Harper?

Writers: Emma, Patrick
Date Posted: 11th March 2007

Characters: Kouna, Thanja
Description: Kouna and Thanja discuss the Hall's lack of a harper.
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 3, day 5 of Turn 4

"Hallsecond," said Thanja rather formally as she spotted the Dolphin Hallsecond.

"Hallsecond Thanja, how nice to see you again." Kouna said happily. "If you have a minute I'd like to discuss something concerning our Halls." She grinned to show it was nothing pressing.

"Of course, I'd be only too happy to spend a moment or two with you." She smiled at the other woman.

"It'll only take a moment." She assured her fellow Hallsecond. "I was just very surprised at the lack of official harper at our Hall. How long has it been that way?" Kouna asked.

"I really don't know," replied Thanja. "Although we're so close now..."

"Exactly. I heard about the dolphins special concert, and with so many of our dolphineers settling down to start families we're going to need a teacher soon."
She grinned at her own lack of children. Maybe someday. "What would we need to provide for a Harper.
We don't have any precidences about gender obviously, and but what is it that we need to supply them with?"
A pad of paper and a pen was instantly in her hands, as if appearing from the ether.

"You might be better off talking to the Hallmaster himself on that. I can advise you generally, but as to specifics you'd need a Harper rather than a Printer."

"Of course. But I'd like to know we _have_ the basics before I talk to him." She was almost nervous to talk to the Harper Hallmaster. Almost. "And if you know of anyone whose ready for a change, I'd like to learn they're names so I can start corrupting them to the Dolphin Hall." She grinned mischeviously.

"Well I can't give any names, but I can tell you that there are a few promising Journeymen and Women who'd jump at the chance if a posting were to come up. How about Hallmaster Mosler writes to the Hallmaster here, and I'll do what I can to advance the application?"
suggested Thanja. "Wonderful! I'll get Mosler right on it." Kouna wrote herself a note on her hand. "Now would they generally want a closed apartment? Or would they want to mingle with the Hall folk?"

"Totally depends on the person."

"Well of course it does," Kouna continued on rather bluntly. "But of those you _know_ are getting antsy what is the general preference. I want to make sure that our Hall can house them comfortably."

"How about I get back to you later today?"

"Or better yet I'll send Via along later today and you can send me what you find out." Kouna said stroking the golden head of her firelizard who was perched on her shoulder. "And thank you Hallsecond Thanja. I was very set on getting this rolling today." She held out her hand to her fellow Hallsecond.

Thanja took the hand and shook it. "I'll look out for her."
