Description: Fielton shocks Badia by offering his apologies, though in return he makes it clear he's expecting her to deal with the complications that resulted from her interference.
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 7, day 27 of Turn 3
Fielton sighed heavily as he dropped into his usual chair by the hearth, not even bothering with his boots for once. His wife didn't seem to notice him... she hadn't seemed to notice him much at all since their fight, no matter how often he tried to catch her eyes. He heaved another overly loud sigh--mostly to see if she'd look up--and slumped in his chair when she didn't. "Shards, Badia. How long are you going to ignore me for?"
Badia kissed her white kitten's nose. "Star, did you _hear_ something?"
Fielton groaned. "_Badia_, that's absurd."
"I didn't think I'd heard anything..." Scooping up Night, she took both kittens across the room and to the bed.
"Oh, for..." Fielton pulled off his boots and followed her. "Badia, can't we just _talk_ about this? Maybe I was a little short with you, but you can't spend the rest of our marriage talking to your pets!"
"The _hearth_." She looked pointedly at his boots.
He stopped and looked at her for a long moment before doing perhaps the first intelligent thing he'd done in days. He quietly turned around and put his boots next to the hearth. Mostly quietly, at least. Muttering didn't count.
"I heard that..." Badia sighed and rested against the pillows, kittens arranged protectively on each side of her.
Fielton took a deep breath and turned to her. "I'm sorry, all right? I didn't take your concerns seriously, and you were right. I should have listened."
Badia's green eyes widened at that. "Wow..."
He frowned at her. "Is that all you're going to say?" Shards, he'd just _apologized_ to her, and all she was going to do was gape at him? His ego was feeling decidedly tender.
"I just never imagined you'd actually admit you were wrong and apologize is all. It certainly _took_ you long enough..." She moved Star over next to Night and patted the bed next to her tentatively.
Fielton sat heavily on the bed. "Well, don't sound too pleased yet. You might not like what's in it for you now that I've had to take steps..." He'd spent most of the afternoon trying to come up with a solution for what he would do with a bedridden pregnant woman before realizing his wife's demands to be taken seriously might _be_ the perfect solution.
"Miryene's been moved to the Hall, and tomorrow morning Daigoro and I are escorting Jhonnel out of the Hall. Permenantly."
Badia bit her lip. She couldn't help being pleaseed that a man who'd abuse a woman carrying his child was being banished, but Miryene was loyal to a fault and it wasn't going to be easy for her or her other children. "What will become of Miryene...and how is she taking all this..." Suddenly, the consequences of forcing her ideals on someone else became evident and the young girl wasn't entirely as sure of herself as before...
"I don't know how she's taking it," Fielton replied heavily. "Daigoro is telling her. I had to come back here because I need to know if you're willing to take responsibility for what you started. Someone has to take charge of keeping Miryene cared for now that she's alone and bedridden."
"Of course, Fielton. As long as she's willing..." She realized this was the first time they'd had an adult conversation that didn't include both of them undressed and in the throes of passion--and it had taken her temper to get them there. Reaching out, she covered his hand with her own small one.
"Truly, I only wanted what was best for she and the child...and I'm sorry if it's causing you difficulties, husband."
Relieved, Fielton lifted her hand and kissed it gently. "You don't need to be chasing after Miryene all the time, of course. I want some time where I have you to myself. But find some women who can take turns sitting with her.
It will be easier if we can finally get our own Healer here... I've sent _another_ message to the Healer Hall."
She nodded. "That would be helpful...I mean, the Hold isn't so far away, but in cases like Miryene's, it would be a lot more convenient." She sighed.
"Also, I've been thinking that I should, as wife of the Hallmaster, make more of an effort to interact with the other women in the Hall."
Fielton shrugged one shoulder absently. "I suppose if you want to, there's no reason you can't. Perhaps you might be able to bring things like this to my attention before they get out of hand next time..." Fielton looked at her. "Maybe a little less violently next time though, Badia." The more he thought about the idea the more he liked it... Fayne had always managed things like that before she and her sharding husband had run off to Emerald Falls. Badia probably wouldn't be able to do much, but it would at least make her feel involved and hopefully keep her from throwing things at him.
"I'm sorry I tossed a jar at you, Fielton..." Of course, this was primarily because that particular pot of cream was impossible to find and she'd have to wait until the Spring Gather before she could find the merchant that sold it, but still...
"Just don't do it again," he said absently before kissing her hand again.
When she didn't pull away, he turned her hand over and kissed the inside of her wrist, obviously having decided he'd had enough of talking about making up and wanted to move right along.
"Yes, husband..." At least she wouldn't if he didn't give her reason to anyway. She rather preferred him kissing her to him running out the door anyway.
