Location: River Bluff Weyr

"That's a handsome young blue you have there," R'masu complimented as he settled against his dragon's flank.

I'poro wiped sweat from his brow as he looked up at the man who had spoken to him. The thing that stood out to the boy was the sorrow in the brownrider's eyes. I'poro suddenly got the notion that he wanted to get rid of that sorrow. "Th... thank you." He stammered. "Your brown is amazing."

R'masu smiled, some of the sadness leaving his eyes.
"He certainly seems to think so."

}:I _am_ amazing!:{ the brown insisted.

I'poro's chuckle was a bit on the hysteric side. "That was _funny_." He said inbetween gasps of laughter. I'poro was glad to see the sadness wasn't as strong anymore. "I'm I'poro." He said trying to keep the hand he offered from shaking to much.

The brownrider took the offered hand. "I'm R'masu, and this amazing creature is Kannoth."

"He's amazing." **And the rider and a bad sight either.** Foroth felt he was finished with washing and stumbled up to Konneth, tail wagging and tongue hanging out. He didn't say anything, but turned his head to the side and chirped. "Oro, get back here, you're insulting the nice brown." **And making me look like a fool.**

Kannoth extended his head toward the blue. }:You are not insulting me.:{ Foroth turned to his rider with a smug look on his blue face. }:See I'm not insulting, I'm cute!:{ Foroth exemplified this by rolling onto his back and looking at both riders comically. I'poro covered his face with his hand.

R'masu chuckled. "I think you might have Impressed a canine instead of a dragon."

I'poro rant he hand down his face in despair. "Yeah I suppose." }:Go stand over there like a good dragon and stop embarrasing me.:{ He told Foroth sternly. Foroth looked at his rider for a moment before sitting calmly at his riders side. "Sometimes I think he is one."

"But they're the best things in the world, aren't they?" R'masu patted his brown.

"I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world." I'poro grinned. Talking about Foroth was always easy to do.

The brownrider's smile was wistful. "Other things might fade, but that feeling will never go away." }:I love you, R'masu. I will always be here.:{
**I know, dear heart. I know.**

The look he gave his brown just then made I'poro's heart pund in his throught. He swallowed the lump and tried to keep his voice from squeeking. "I know how you feel." R'masu nodded. "Were you surprised you Impressed?
Well, _everyone_ is surprised when it happens, but did you think you would?"

I'poro didn't know why, but that face just seemed like someone he could tell everything too. "Well, to tell you the truth, I had nightmares about never Impressing. But I knew that Foroth was out there, I just had to find him, and well it was more like he found me." Memories of the moments before that fateful one made him grimace in mild disgust. "Yes, the dragons do know." The brownrider gave his dragon another pat. "And were you surprised at blue?"
he asked carefully. "Not really. I could kind of tell you know?" I'poro tried to keep his heart form jumping out of his chest.
He'd never felt like this before, even with F'rain.

The brownrider nodded. "It's good to know yourself.
Were you Weyrbred?"

I'poro shook his head. "Nope I was Searched from the Healer Hall." Why was this so sharding awkward for him?

"Then more credit to you. It's often more difficult for those outside a Weyr to understand their nature."
He'd seen many Searched boys with inclinations toward men suffer through denial, confusion and self-loathing.

"I was confused at first." I'poro said as he checked Foroth for any dirt spots he might have collected in his tumble. "But my friends here helped me see there was nothing wrong." He rubbed at a dirt spot on Foroth's belly. It was easier to talk when he didn't have to look at him.

"That's good." R'masu watched I'poro, not pressing him, giving him room to speak if there was more he wanted to say.

An awkward silence fell on the two of them. The only sound I'poro was sure, was te steady beating of his throbbing heart.

The brownrider smiled gently. "So besides acting like a canine, what other personality traits does your blue have?"

Foroth sttretched his wings and began to preen it lightly. Making sure that he blocked his riders view of R'amsu. "He's rather vain." I'poro said around the blue wing.

"Many dragons are." Although R'masu's lifemate was currently showing no signs of it. He was content to watch the blue through half-lidded eyes.

"I'm," I'poro had to push aside his dragon's wing to adress the brownrider, and found that looking at the mans face made his face turn red. I'poro looked at his feet. "I'm glad that I'm not the only one then." He looked about for some excuse to leave and stop these confusing emotions and found a very real excuse in Foroth. The tiny blue yawned. "C'mon Foroth lets get you settled down by Latarth and Tibith." the blue nodded sleepily. "It was nice to meet you R'masu." Only he didn't know the half of it.

"It was nice to meet you too, I'poro," he said, smiling as the young man led his blue away.
