Evaleine listened to the harper's tenor, a smile
playing on her lips. She truly did enjoy music of all
kinds. When Faran had finished his song and looked to
be taking a break, she approached with the neatly
penned copies.
"After several mishaps, I am finally getting these to
you," she stated with a smile, holding out the copies
of the sea tune which included both the words and the
scores to the song. "I apologize that it has taken so
long. We kept missing each other and then that little
incident with the klah pitcher ruined the first set."
Faran nodded as he accepted them and leafed through
them absently, admiring her work. "Are you sure you
don't want to be a harper? This is some very good
penmanship." He said happily, one more step to his
Mastery.
"At twenty-two, I think I'm a bit old for an
apprentice," she laughed. "That had been my mother's
hope, though, before I married, despite living in the
South. I enjoyed your music tonight," she added.
"You must have something inspiring you right now, the
love songs are particularly heart wrenching."
"Maybe..." He said with a knowing smile, thinking of
Lymria. "But you at least deserve an extra lesson or
two." Faran said. "I'll even be so magnanimous to
teach you." He said with a sweeping bow to her.
"Oh, I would love that! I've had no instruction since
well before my mother died. Are you sure you have the
time?"
"I'll find the time for such a gifted lady." He said
with a grin. "I think I have time just after dinner
if you're up to it?"
"I am," Evaleine stated inclining her head with a
smile, more pleased than she cared to admit.
"Then stop by my office and we'll discuss times and
see how much you know." Faran grinned at her.
"I'll do that, harper, and I'm looking forward to our
first lesson. I will warn you, my voice is highly
untrained. I have been told I have a pleasant singing
voice, but my mother always insisted it was not her
area of expertise and refused to give me any advice
whatsoever. I have more experience with instruments."
"That's perfect because I'm a vocal major. So we'll
start with that tonight. Discover your range, and
work on strengthening your breath support." Faran
said happily, it was nice to have someone to teach
again. His apprentices were almost the point that
they'd need to go to the Hall.
Evaleine's pale green eyes sparkled in anticipation.
"I can hardly wait. Perhaps I should let you get back
to your next set."
"I suppose so." Faran said resignedly. "I think that
a new song is in order." He said shaking the sheets
of the copied song.
"I'm anxious to hear you sing it," Evaleine answered
the tall harper. She liked the light lilting quality
of his voice and knew that it would be well suited to
this song in particular.
"Maybe someday soon it'll be you singing these songs
up on stage." He said in a parting remark. "I'll see
you after dinner." He said with another smile.
