Lady Felyna

Felyna

Carefully arranging her hair about her face, she smoothed her skirt one Last time away from her trim waist. Satisfied, she took the fresh flowers she'd gathered with some of the children that morning, and headed toward
Corowal's office.

It was time to properly congratulate the new Lord Holder of Emerald Falls.

Her smile was open and warm as she shifted the vase of flowers to her hip To knock on his door.

"My Lord? Lord Holder Corowal?." Her voice warmed even more than her normal tones as she pronounced his new, full title.

Corowal recognized her voice immediately. "Felyna, please come in," he asked.

The door was pushed open and she stepped into view, walking slowly toward His desk. A half curtsy was offered as she paused in front of his desk, and then stepped to a table to the side to set the flowers down.

Fussing with the blooms until they looked perfect, she smiled as she worked. "Good day, Lord Corowal. I wished to come and offer you congratulations on gaining your desires. You well deserve your title, my Lord."

"Thank you, my lady. You're being very gracious towards me," Corowal replied with a teasing smile. He could be polite to the dizziness if he wanted. "I thought we dropped the titles off long ago."

She left the flowers and came to his side, her hand laying atop his for a moment in sheer boldness, but she felt she could do that after several months of charming interaction with him.
"We did, Corowal. But I thought you might enjoy the sound of a lovely Lady calling you by your title, hmm?" Her eyes met his for an instant, promises of other desires and ways to celebrate lurking in the bright blue, though she
veiled them immediately. No sense in losing her head over the man. At least not yet.

"I have to admit it sounds kind of nice," Corowal chuckled.

Laughing softly, she nodded. "I thought you might enjoy it. I brought some flowers for you, to brighten your office. I don't expect you're having much trouble settling into the job, hmm? You were already doing all this work and more besides."

"I've been training for this job most of my life," Corowal said dryly. He had already added his own personal touch to the office. Most notable change were his children's bright drawings on the wall. To Ofewal's surprisingly mature paintings to toddlers random squibbles.

Felyna glanced about the office and then smiled down at him.
"Ofewal's?" she asked, pointing at one of the very well-done
paintings. "Perhaps he should be a Harper!"

"Perhaps, he is a very talented boy even if his physics is weak," Corowal nodded. "He sure didn't get it from me," he mused aloud.

"Your wife was talented that way? Drawings and such? I have a gift for arranging flowers and many other things, but I do not think I could draw. I suffered through my Harper classes but much more enjoyed helping my mother with her duties at our small hold."

"Actually I don't know if Ofelia could draw. She was badly nearsighted, so I think she never even tried it," Corowal said. "But she had surprisingly good singing voice and a mind of archivist."

Felyna looked at him for a moment. "Do you value a good mind in your ladies, Corowal?" Intelligence glistened in her warm eyes.
If she didn't have to hide her interest in Hold matters from him...

"Yes, I do. I was fortunate to grow up in a hold more open to ideas than Emerald Falls hold. Coral Bay traded quite a lot with North."

Felyna smiled lightly at that, meeting his eyes for a moment. "Then its fortunate I do have a brain in my head and a lovely face to hide it behind, no?"

"Yes," Corowal laughed. "Brains can hide behind the mostly unlikely faces," he continued. "It always surprises me how most people underestimate women. Just because they can't craft means they can't think?" He shook his head ruefully.

She lay a hand atop his again, looking at him. She leaned a bit toward him and smiled. She promised him so much with that smile, a smile that reached all the way to her eyes. "And women underestimate men." But not me, she added mentally.
"Here's to never underestimating each other, Corowal, and what we each bring to the table. Or in this case.. the desk." Her other hand traced a pattern on the desk, idle but confident.

"Aye," Corowal agreed. She was a cunning one, this one, he thought approvingly.

Her smile was stunning up close, and she offered the full effect of it to him. "If you need any help at all, Corowal, please let me know. I just want to help you succeed; I know you'll be a wonderful Lord Holder."

"I'm sure there's plenty of things you can be helpful with," Corowal replied, inhaling her scent deeply. **Definently a Lady-material, she could be difficult as mistress,** he mused by himself.

No, she would make a terrible mistress. If she could be convinced to become one!

A little wink was offered as her mind went along a path that led to Lady of Emerald Falls and it sounded quite _nice_, at least in her mind. "I'm well trained in every aspect of helping Lord Holders, Corowal. _Every_ aspect. After all, I was sent here to marry one."
Honesty seemed better, to her, than these verbal games. Although, they were fun too!

"Funny, but there seems to be a spot open for a Lady holder...", Corowal said, allowing his finger caress her arm briefly.

She flushed delightfully, lingering under his touch. "Truly? I hadn't noticed." But the dancing mischief in her eyes gave the lie to that statement by far.

"An observant woman like you? Forgive me not believing that," Corowal said, his lips so near her cheek that his breath tickled against skin. He was enjoying himself.

Her flush deepened when she realized how close he was to her, and she let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding. *Try to remember to breathe, Felyna. He's just a man!*

Recovering her poise with difficulty, but unable to stop the very feminine blush, she let a slow smile warm her face. "Perhaps I might have noticed.. once or twice... the empty place beside you." She wanted to be a Lady Holder. But she also wanted to love - or at least like alot - the man she married. Perhaps not as impossible as she had
first thought. "And I happen to like being beside you. Especially after the storm... " Some seriousness played into her face. The only 'wiles' she used on him were natural, and not planned. "You made me feel very safe that day, Corowal."

"And you were very brave. I didn't hear a single complain when our picnic turned into a disaster," Corowal said. He had taken his children (except the baby of course) and Felyna to a picking months earlier and they had
been surprised by a sudden thunderstorm.

The sharding blush came back and she swore mentally. She was like a young girl! She knew better. "Do you really think so? I'm afraid I'm a bit... sheltered... as most women of my rank are, these days. I am glad that I did not hamper you too much." A teasing smile curved
her lips. "Next time we go on a picnic, lets skip the storm! Once is enough."

"That's a sure thing, I wouldn't want go through that again," Corowal chuckled. He moved backwards to give her a space.

Vaguely disappointed as he backed away from her, but pleased overall with their visit, Felyna nodded in agreement, though she did add a bit mischieviously, "But I wouldn't mind another picnic with you, my Lord Holder. Perhaps to the Falls... I have not been there since we took
your children."

"Next time I will find someone weatherwise who can predict the weather," Corowal said. "To find the perfect day." He wondered if he could made her fall in love with him. He had done it with Ofelia, but Ofelia had been shy, lonely, unattractive girl nobody wanted. She had been easy. Only
after they had married, Corowal realized that he had grown attached to her too. Felyna seemed more of a challenge.

Her smile warmed and she touched his arm lightly. "I'd like that, Corowal." She spent a moment looking at him, wondering. She found his face pleasing to the eye, and knew it was one she could grow used to looking at each morning. He was 20 turns her senior, though, and
the thought made her smile widen even more.

After a moment of this intense look, she nodded once and stood back from his desk, the smile still upon her face. "I believe I've distracted my Lord quite enough for one day. I'll visit again?"

"Please, do. Your presence brightens my day," Corowal replied with quiet voice.

Thrilled to her toes - after all, he'd hated her the first time they'd met - Felyna couldn't keep the sunny smile from her face as she left, waving gaily at him as she vanished out his door.
She believed they were a good match, but shards, one never knew. There were plenty of other eligible women to catch - and keep - Corowal's eye.

But she hoped it was her!
