Thalia had her back turned towards him as she sat on the new stone garden bench, surrounded by her flowers fully blooming. She was reading something, probably another one of those scandalous books so discretely covered in leather. As if no one knew what kind of books came bound that way! Kiomo crept up stealthily behind her and wrapped his hands around to cover her eyes. "Guess who," he murmured into her ear.

"Definitely not my mother!" Thalia pulled Kiomo's hands away from her eyes and turned toward him with a bright smile, the book forgotten in her lap. "You sneaky thing! Whatever are you doing here?"

"Looking for you," he grinned back, nipping at her lip playfully.

Thalia flushed and pulled away slightly, casting a sly look around the garden for spies. There was no one but the leaves and flowers, so she gave him a shy kiss on the lips before very deliberately picking up her book, marking her place, and setting it aside. "I thought you said you'd be busy until tomorrow,"

Kiomo sighed inwardly. He had hoped for more. Her reluctance to open up to him where people might see was making seducing her quite a challenge. They should have been sleeping together by now! A lesser man would have lost his patience. Luckily, Kiomo prided himself in being no such man. Slipping onto the bench beside her, his body facing the other side, he reached a hand across her legs to brace himself, leaning slightly across her and successfully trapping her where she sat. "I made time. I wanted to see you. We've seen too little of each other lately."

The Lady smiled in spite of herself, feeling a little thrill race through her at his nearness. "I saw you just yesterday," she said coyly.

He shook his head sadly, reaching for her hand. "It just wasn't enough."

"Greedy!" She laughed a little, secretly thrilled that he'd want to see her that desperately.

"When it comes to you, I most certainly am," he agreed, bringing her hand to his lips and softly kissing each knuckle. "You have turned me into a selfish man, Thalia. How exceedingly cruel of you."

"I bring out the best in men," she said, marvelling at how soft his lips felt. "So... now that you have abandoned your duties for the afternoon, what have you planned?"

"What else, look at pretty girls," he shrugged teasingly. "Do you know any who are free at this moment?"

"Mmmm... perhaps I know of one, but I am _quite_ sure that she is married!"

"Well, now, that won't do," Kiomo sniffed indignantly. "I guess I'll just have to settle at idling away the candlemarks with you."

"Settle. Humph." Thalia pretended to pout for a moment, then smiled again. "Well, I was thinking of going riding this afternoon, but I might be persuaded to leave the Hold a little early, should I have an escort..."

"I believe it wise, Lady Thalia," he nodded, a grave expression on his face as he leaned forward to whisper in her ear. "There are dangerous men about."

"And I'm sure that you'd tell me if you spotted one," she said breathlessly.

Now this was more the reaction he had hoped to draw from her! He gently nibbled on her ear lobe, rather pleased that she had not yet pulled away. "Aren't you afraid that I might be a little dangerous?"

"Are you?"

"I think I'm just the right amount of dangerous." His lips traveled down from her ear to graze the skin of her neck. He would not push her farther than she was willing to go, but he knew the farther they pushed this time, the further they could go the next. This could be a long, slow process, but as long as he got all he wanted in the end, it was worth the wait.

His touch sent shivers down her spine, and it was with reluctance that Thalia disentangled herself from Kiomo's embrace. She brushed off her skirts and stood, amazed that her knees hadn't turned to water. "Then shall I meet you at the stable in half a candlemark? The grooms need time to saddle runners, and I need to change into something I can ride in."

"Why don't I bring the runners to the courtyard to meet you?" he offered, rather pleased at the small success. With any luck, he could convince her to dismount in some secluded spot and they could continue to build on the new ground he had gained. "That would be very thoughtful of you. Thank you." Thalia smiled.
"I'll see you shortly then," she said, and picked up her book and left her garden, secretly thanking her lucky stars that a quick change of clothes let her re-gather herself. Kiomo might make her skin sing and her blood heat, but she was a Lady, not a greenrider - and had her son to think of. **And I can only hope that I remember that...** Thalia thought, idly wondering what it would be like if she conveniently forgot...
