Description: Kouna and Jenasie finally get around meeting face to face, even if they end up more than a little wet.
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 5, day 3 of Turn 4
Kouna walked down the pier toward the dolphin docks, a towel slung over one shoulder, a baggy tunic slipped over her swimsuit. She was training more with the young Ark, they were becoming fast friends and she was hoping for a formal partnership soon. As she approached the docks she noticed another dolphineer sitting on them, talking animatedly to the pod.
Seeing one dolphin in particular Jenasie raised an eyebrow, "Don't even think about it." "Jen get wet!! Jen get wet!!" the dolphin chatted and before Jenasie could complain or try and convince Zarias otherwise the dolphin dived under and made a right show of splashing her tail back and forth, making sure to shower her partner with sea water. While the dolphineer was dressed for swimming she'd hardly wanted that to happen, her towel was drenched, but all the same she couldn't help but laugh as Zarias surfaced again.
Kouna laughed outright at the display as she hung her towel well out of splash range and climbed down the ladder to the docks. "That's why I leave my towels over _there_." She pointed to the high point up on the main dock. She was saved further comment by a rather large male dolphin making a splash.
He surfaced after his stunt shouting. "Kon is wet! Kon is wet!" Kouna looked at the always grinning Arc and smiled.
"Hi I'm Kouna and this rascal is Arc. And if my eyes don't deceive me you must be Jenasie." She held out a wet hand for the Journeywoman to grasp. "I've read a _lot_ of your reports."
Jenasie flicked a soaking wet strand of hair out of her face and grinned at the fellow dolphineer. "Ah; then you must know how much trouble I get into" She joked taking the wet hand and giving it a firm shake. **Kouna now why is that name so familiar** she thought trying to place the name and face to things she'd heard. "As for the towels, I'll remember that for next time."
"Jen come play? Bring Kon?" Came the inquisitive voice of her own dolphin partner.
The dolphineer smiled "This one is Zarias, my partner in crime" Jenasie introduced her dolphin partner "A pleasure to meet you Zarias. And your reports aren't any worse than some of the others I've read." She sat with a thump on the dock, one leg tucked underneath her, the other dangling in the water.
Jenasie looked over at her, "You realise that they aren't going to let us talk until we've played with them" she intoned at her fellow dolphineer looking at their dolphin partners. With that she stood and walked to the end of the dock and winked mischievously at Kouna before arching into a dive. Water erupted and she surfaced again, flicking wet hair out of her face. "Are you coming in then? It's not that cold" Jenasie insisted.
Kouna didn't answer her, but instead arched her body gracefully slipping between the water almost without a splash. She surfaced behind Jenasie and blew a mouthful of seawater at her face. Sometimes she was just as bad as the dolphins, only a big kid at heart.
She laughed easily as the water sprayed her in the face, wagging a finger at Kouna as if she was about to yell at her fellow dolphineer, but instead with a deft flick of her wrist she sent a spray or water at her.
Kouna gasped at the splash. "Oh, don't make me pull rank on you girl!" She called playfully, splashing the girl back. The dolphins found the new game and continued to splash with a strength the two humans could not compete with.
It was at the mention of rank that Kouna's name finally fell into place, she was the hall second. She gave a grin at her joking tone and soon found water spraying her in the face. When the dolphins joined in Jenasie raised her hand above her head in mock surrender, but as usual that didn't stop the cheeky sea mammals action's and she found herself laughing so hard she was swallowing just as much splashed sea water and air. "Too bad you can't pull rank on the dolphins" she called jokingly to Kouna.
"No, but I can try!" She turned to the dolphins and pointed to one at random. "You there! Stop that splashing this instant or you'll have one very soggy Hallsecond on your hands!" The dolphin's happy noises just escalated at the comment as they continued their splashing.
"Well I tried." Kouna said resignedly and pulled herself out of the water. "You win, you fish faced blubber heads!" She cried mockingly toward the pod, who only squeed their excitement.
Jenaise grinned " 'fish faced blubber heads' ? now there's a saying I should remember." She gave Zarias a pat before hauling herself up out of the water beside Kouna. "They are such kids."
"Well I don't know how adult you can be, working with dolphins." Kouna grinned as she scratched Arc gently under the chin. "You at least have to have a sense of humor." She grinned at the pod and the Journeywoman next to her.
The dolphinneer gave a chuckle "How very true, it gives an excuse to act like children though and if our apprentices ever found that out we'd have a few problems on our hands." Absentmindedly she sat the giving Zarias a scratch near her right pectoral fin, the young dolphin gave a happy squeal and rolled over in the water, presenting her belly for a good rub, which Jenasie obliged in giving.
Kouna smiled at the comment. "I don't think I'd have to worry about it to much. I'd just catch the erring apprentice first thing in the morning." Kouna's smile turned slightly evil. "That wouldn't be pretty."
A sly smile crossed Jenasie's face "Now why is that a threat I find myself cringing at" She returned to Kouna, remembering all too well the few times she'd been woken at sun up in order to complete chores as payment for her own mischief as an Apprentice.
"Not only would they find themselves with extra chores to keep their mouth's shut, but I'm not the most... congenial person you could meet in the morning." Her smile was completely sinister.
Catching that sinister smiled Jenasie gave a look of mock horror. "Remind me not to wake you in the morning then." She joked.
"Oh I'm serious." Kouna said with a straight face. But it didn't fully reach her eyes.
Jenasie caught that stern glare that seemed to creep over the face of the Hall second, but seeing the amusement still in the other Dolphineer's eyes she gave a nod. "I'll defiantly keep that in mind" Then a small smiled crossed her face "Speaking of chores... " she mused standing up, and offering a hand to the Hall second "I believe I have some work to catch up on..."
"And I suppose my paperwork isn't going to magically start on its own." Kouna said, running the towel over her head. "It was nice talking to you." Kouna said with a grin.
"There is that" she mused back as she grabbed her soaking wet towel form the dock and swung it nimbly over her shoulder, without sending a water trail everywhere. "It was nice talking to you too" she grinned back, "next time we might have to do it with out these nosy little fiends of ours" she joked waving a hand in the direction of the pod. Though trying to do anything with the pod around _always_ made it more fun.
