"Laram!" Kalesia waved at her fellow senior apprentice. "Do you have a moment?" she asked, heading over to him. She was between classes at the moment, but that didn't mean he was.

"Sure," Laram replied, stopping in his tracks. "I was just on the way to get an early dinner."

"I have one more class before dinner..." Kale shook her head sadly.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Laram said and smiled. "I'm starving though!
Do you want me to walk you to your next class and we can discuss what you need to?"

"If you wouldn't mind." Kale said. "I was talking to Yara the other day, and she mentioned that you had been having some troubles with rescue, but got help. She suggested I ask you about it."

"Yes, Journeyman Renner has been showing me a few tips and tricks to help me. Plus, he's been having me do practice exercises to get my feeling more comfortable with being underwater doing the rescue operations. Are you having problems too?"

"I haven't yet taken my first class, but I'm supposed to soon. I'm scared, though." she admitted. "I was saved by dolphins once. I know being the rescue-ee can be frightening. I'm not sure if I can handle it."

"That's how I felt. I think Renner and I figured out it was the feeling that I was losing control by being under the water that was bothering me the most. We've been working on building up my stamina in regards to how long I can hold my breath underwater and how to control the panicking feeling. You'll probably be ok with you first classes though. See how those go and then assess how you're feeling about the situation," Laram replied.

Kale listened and nodded. It was good advice. She probably shouldn't be worrying about panicking when she hadn't even tried it yet. But still, the feeling of being trapped under the water, the terror as she thought she might drown- it was hard to forget. "Do you think trying to improve my underwater time might prepare me better?" she asked.

"Oh definitely. I remember when I first started, I had to keep pushing myself to hold my breath longer and longer underwater. It was hard at first, but my breathing improved. And, now that I'm practicing even harder exercises, I don't have to worry about my breathing because that's already under control," Laram said, smiling at the younger apprentice.

"That's the part I find hardest. I'm comfortable under the water when it's clear and calm, but if it's cloudy or turbulent, I panic, and then I breathe water." it reminded her too much of the accident. "Thanks for helping." she added. Sometimes her fellow apprentices were easier to talk to!

Laram grinned and shrugged. "It's no problem. I was having the same problem up until just recently. In fact, if you want, you can come practice with me. It might help things."

"Oh, if you wouldn't mind, then I'd love to!" Kale said. "I'm so glad I'm not the only apprentice feeling this way."

Laram grinned again. "Okay, well meet me tomorrow morning at the 6th candlemark down on the beach. We'll go from there."

"No problem. See you then, Laram." Kale said. "I better get to class before I get in trouble." she added.

Laram grinned and waved. "See you tomorrow then!"
