Description: Kiala reflects on her meeting with the Weyrwoman of RBW
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 20 of Turn 4
Kiala stretched out on her cot and sighed. It'd been another busy day with Candidate classes in the morning and apprentice beasthealer duties in the afternoon. She liked the Candidate classes, but it seemed as if she was repeating some of the same things over and over. However repetitive the classes might become, Kiala knew she had to keep appearing until she either Impressed or became too old to be on the Sands. Why would the Search dragon have picked her from her father's cothold all those turns ago? Kiala hadn't seen her family in almost 2 turns, which is the last time they'd managed to come up to see her remain on the Sands with the others who hadn't Impressed that time. Her father had come up to her after the Hatching and asked if she didn't want to come home. After all, she'd been at the Weyr since she was 13 turns old and she hadn't had any luck yet. Kiala had said no, she felt she needed to stay here because it would happen, she just knew it.
Kiala rolled over on her side, bunching her pillow up under her head. It just wouldn't do to focus on those memories. She knew she had to stay positive after going to River Bluff Weyr for the meeting with the Weyrwoman and the other female Candidates. Her hopes had been restored and Kiala had felt a new determination come over her. She knew she had just a good a chance as any of the other girls up there to Impress the gold currently on the Sands. Kiala also knew that she couldn't set all her hopes on the gold egg, as there were going to be several greens in those eggs too. She didn't know which she preferred, but she knew one thing: maybe, finally, this would be her one lucky chance at Impression.
Kiala had gone through every aspect of the Hatching and knew there was nothing she could do except go out there on those Sands and just project herself. She knew that if she was meant to Impress, it would happen and no amount of trickery would improve her chances. She'd wanted to be a dragonrider for so long, and she'd been denied so many times, that it was hard for her to think that she only had a few turns left to Stand before she would be considered too old. She shook her head and closed her eyes. She wouldn't think about that. She wouldn't think about any of that. She would focus on her upcoming trip to River Bluff Weyr and on those eggs on the Sands. It was what she had to do.
