Cinale

Cinale

"My, my, my... You're a brave one, Daigoro, to be coming back here after that stunt you pulled this morning," Cinale said, her tone half-teasing.

"Let it never be said that I am a theif, my dear." The brewer proudly offered her the now empty tray the cookies had been cooling on.

She glared good-naturedly at him as she snatched the tray away from him. "Oh, but I will say it. You're a theif, hon."

"But the cookies were for residents of the Hall, were they not? Am I not a resident of this Hall?" He asked innocently.

"They're cookies for the residents when I _say_ they're cookies for the residents," she told him, staring at the forsaken crumbs he had left on the tray. "And they're for _all_ the residents. Not just one." She looked up at him, but she was grinning. "And you, hon, are just _one._"

"But Cinale, I'm a growing boy." He teased, slipping an arm around her shoulders.

"The only thing that'll keep growing is this right here," she said with a grin, patting his stomach, "if you keep stealing my sweets."

"You think that's a deterent?" He grinned mischeviously as he slipped onto the bench.

"Oh, you," she laughed, planting her hands on her hips as she stared down at him. "I think you _like_ to steal. And not just to eat, but to get me riled."

"We are locked in a vicious cycle, my dear, and I am afraid there is no escaping it. You love to cook good food. I love to eat the good food you cook. My eating the good food just makes you cook more good food for me to eat. What can we do?"

"Well I, for one, can't help it if you eat my good food. That's your decision, not mine," she chuckled. "So I guess we must stay locked in this so-called 'vicious cycle.'"

"Yes, love, you'll make me a fat old man sitting behind that new desk of mine." He looked at her sidewise, sure she would catch his meaning.

Her smile grew. "So you got the position, did you? Congratulations, hon!"

"Well, I still have to talk to Fielton to make it official, but Tyrome and I had a long chat this afternoon, and yes, I have the position!" He popped up from his seat and grabbed Cinale in his thick arms and gave her an excited twirl.

She laughed, putting her hands on his shoulders to steady herself. "I would've asked if you were excited about it, but I think you've already made that quite clear!"

"The old boy hand picked _me_ as his successor. Can you believe it?" He asked as he placed her gently back on her feet.

Cinale shook her head and grinned. "Well, who else could he have picked? You were the most-qualified for the position, you know - whether you realize it or not!"

"Oh, I don't know about _that_. But I must say, I know I could do it." He grinned, happy to be sharing his news with his friend.

"You've made this cook here mighty proud, Daigoro. I might even have bake you a special treat."

"Oh, you beautiful woman. What will you bake for me?" His face was lit up like an enthusiastic child's.

"Maybe another batch of cookies? You won't even have to steal them this time!"

"Actually, I'm kind of tired of cookies now..." He gave her a sideways look, "But I do so love your apple-klah cake."

She snorted and rolled her eyes. "It figures," she grinned. "You're not very subtle, hon."

"I try not to be. It avoids confusion." He gave her a quick wink.

"All right, all right... I'll bake you your cake. Just as long as you promise not to steal anything else from me this week!"

"I promise." The brewer solemly swore, before breaking into a smile.
