Badia stayed in the bathing room as long as she could, brushing out her long red hair until it all but gleamed. She was so nervous, she was on the verge of brushing it to the point where it became more static than wave and finally set the brush aside and took a deep breath.
She didn't think it was necessarily polite to hide from your husband on your wedding night. Still, smiling and curtseying was a lot easier than....well, doing whatever it was you had to do to be _really_ married. And Badia was hoping that it was going to be much more pleasant than the runner and canine matings she'd been unlucky enough to see in her lifetime.
Finally gaining enough courage, she opened the door and entered Fielton's--no, _their_ bedroom and smiled at him tentatively.
Fielton smiled at her warmly, patting a spot on the bed next to him. "I was afraid you were going to stay in there all night long."
She laughed nervously. "And miss spending time with you, Hallmasr--um...husband." How strange the word seemed! "I'm just a bit...nervous." She sat next to him and tried not to fidget.
Her nervousness gentled something inside him, rousing a protective instinct he'd never really felt before. He'd been inexperienced when he'd brought his first wife to their wedding bed, but this time he knew what he was doing. Perhaps that was how it should be--an experienced man could ease his wife through the akwardness of the first time, and have something solid to build their relationship on.
He put his hand under her chin and lifted her face to his. "There's no reason to be nervous."
She looked into his eyes and tried not to blush as she batted her lashes at him--for once without any artifice. "No, I suppose not. You've never given me reason to be nervous around you, Fielton..." Her smile widened. "Is this where you kiss me?" She thought she might like that--so many of the girls at the hold had bragged about stolen kisses and she realized that other than the kiss on her brow when they'd married, Fielton had never kissed her.
"It can be." Leaning down, he kissed her gently at first, not wanting to frighten her with too much passion. She fit comfortably against his side, and he let his arm settle around her waist as he pulled her a little more snugly against him.
So far, things were rather nice she decided. His lips felt good on hers and she leaned into the gentle kiss, wishing she had more experience to be able to reciprocate. She settled for putting her arms around him, hoping he wouldn't stop anytime soon.
Fielton smiled as he lifted his lips from hers. "See? Nothing to be nervous about..." He slipped the fabric of her nightgown off one shoulder as he kissed her again, letting his fingers rest lightly on the soft skin of her throat.
She let out a little startled cry as the nightgown slid off her shoulder, then stopped at the feeling of his fingers skimming her throat. Okay...this still wasn't all that bad. And he _was_ her husband. Surely he should be able to see what was under her nightgown?!
"Badia?" He hesitated, suddenly unsure. Surely she had _some_ idea of what was going to happen. He wasn't really sure explaining it would enhance the mood... "Do you know what happens between a husband and a wife?"
"Yes....I've just never..." She put her head down. "You probably think I'm foolish and completely ignorant, Fielton and I apologize...." She lifted her eyes. "But the kissing _was_ nice. Just...show me....slowly what I'm to do."
Fielton showed unusual tact in not pointing out that he would be more than a little cross if she weren't ignorant in this respect. Instead he returned to kissing her, his fingers tracing along the line of her nightgown.
The kissing part was so nice that it was incredibly easy to let his hands wander where no one else had ever _dared_ before. She leaned into him and let her own arms unwind from his neck, her hands sliding along his broad shoulders and strong back. Fielton was no weak Hallmaster and his years of helping in the vineyards showed easily. It made her forget the number of Turns that separated them.
Having a wife who responded with enthusiasm was quite a nice change in and of itself. There was a certain male ego tied up in the noises she made and the way her hands moved restlessly over his shoulders. Pulling away from her, he pulled his shirt over his head and let it drop to the floor next to their bed. His lips returned to hers for a moment before sliding down to her neck, his fingers pulling the sleeve on her dressing gown slowly lower.
She let her hands roam appreciatively over the muscle revealed, at the warmth of his skin. This time she didn't make a noise out when her gown was moved slowly off, save for the small gasp as skin finally met skin. "Fielton..." She arched her neck, enjoying the feel of his wandering lips.
Fielton put his hands on her waist and urged her to slide of the bed and stand between his legs. "You're very beautiful," he said, his fingers pulling at the other shoulder on her gown. The fabric fell to her waist and he smiled as he ran his hands up her sides to cup the curves of her breasts.
She gasped again and watched as her body responded, fascinated at the flush that covered her body, the nipples that slowly became erect at his touch. "And you're...very handsome..." She was having trouble forming words and stopped watching herself, looking at him and the smile on his face instead. Either view was heady stuff.
One hand slid around her back, pulling her closer. He kissed her neck again, kissed her shoulder and the top curve of her breast. His thumb swept out to caress a nipple, and he laughed at the noise she made, feeling desire uncurling inside him in a way it never had before. The way her body responded to him made him want to keep touching her, to see what other noises he could drag from her...

Fielton finally caught his breath, feeling more pleased and rather egotistical at the look on Badia's face. He managed to shift enough to the side to avoid dropping his weight onto her slight body, but he tightened his arms around her to pull her snugly against his chest, feeling rather smug about her pleasure-glazed expression. "Badia?"
"Hmm...?" She turned, the relaxed look on her face turning only slightly worried, even if her voice was still slurred with pleasure. "Did I do it properly, husband?"
He laughed, closing his eyes and sliding his hand down to rest possessively on her hip. "You did very well, Badia."
"Good..." She closed her eyes as well and there was a peaceful silence between them until she thought of something and opened her eyes to look at him curiously. "Fielton?"
"Hmmm?" He was considering if he had the energy to stand up and move them under the blanket.
"Can we do this _every_ night?" If so, then she really thought she was going to like this married business.
Suddenly he didn't feel so tired as he looked down at his smiling--and willing--wife. To have her waiting for him every evening when he came home... life had just taken a turn for the better. "Yes, Badia... every night. Sometimes more than once."
"Really?" At his nod, she smiled. "How long do we have to wait?"
No... he wasn't feeling tired at all.
