"Mmm, that one looks good." Sonesra giggled.
"Good enough to eat," answered Calirin, cutting her eyes at Nasiria to see if she approved.
She did not. "Really, you two have the lowest of standards," Nasiria scoffed.
"What do you mean? Didn't you see his body?" Sonesra defended her choice.
"Yes, but look at his face. It is ever so plain. He has hardly any defined features at all. Probably from some cothold, where he got those muscles lifting feed sacks and mucking out stalls his whole life. Really...so common." She shook her head and looked as if she smelled something unpleasant.
Neither of the other girls challenged her opinion.
"Now, _he_ shows promise." Nasiria licked her lips and sat up a bit straighter. "Looks like a future bronzerider to me."
"Oooh, yea." Calirin agreed. Sonesra just smiled and nodded.
"Hand's off, he'll be mine...when I'm ready." Nasiria warned. "Shards, look at her. How does she think she could ever ride a dragon? The poor beast couldn't lift her arse off the ground." Calirin laughed and Sonesra chuckled and shook her head.
"Really, isn't there some kind of weight limit?" She continued.
"If there is and she's under it, then it is too high." Calirin added.
Nasiria nodded approval and Calirin beamed at her "Look who's coming. It's little miss Holder's daughter. I suppose she thinks her noble blood ensures her Impression. If she think's she's got a chance at a gold, she's in for a rude awakening," Nasiria mused.
"She looks like wherry," Calirin observed. The other two girls laughed.
"No, really. Look at those skinny legs and her nose points south like a wherry. Really. Don't you see it?" The laughter continued and the object of their mirth looked uncomfortably in their direction. They laughed harder.
~~~~~ "I'm bored," Nasiria finally said. "Let's go to the bathing pools." She led her friends past the Harper Classroom toward the stairs. They descended to the Lower Cliffs and made their way to the bathing pools. Once naked, they entered the steaming waters one at a time. Looking around, Nasiria found a place close to the most attractive male available and led her friends to her chosen spot. "Sonesra, wash Calirin's back," she muttered under her breath. The other girl obeyed. Nasiria eyed the young man as he watched the girls' show. Giving him ample time to formulate an appropriate fantasy, she moved through the water to face him.
"My friends are busy, so it looks like I don't have anyone to wash my back.
Would you mind?" She gave a seductive pout.
He chuckled and looked around. "Sure." He took some cleansing sand and began to lather it in his hands. Nasiria turned around and sat in his lap.
His eyes widened and his body responded. She smiled at her success and leaned back against his chest, resting her head on his shoulder. "I'm Nasiria." "I'm P'rin," he said incredulously. "Well, P'rin, what color's your dragon?" she cooed.
"Uh, brown," he answered proudly.
"Brown, hmm?" she smiled seductively. "Well, brown will do very nicely."
"Will do very nicely for what?" he asked, unsure of her direction although her body language was clear."
"Will do for the night," she smiled a beautiful, cunning smile as she turned to face him.
Amazed at his luck, the rider asked, "And your dragon?"
"Mmm. Gold, most likely, but I haven't Impressed her just yet." She chuckled. "I'll be standing at the coming hatching and I expect to find my lifemate very soon."
He had to laugh at her confidence. Dragonets were nothing if not unpredictable when they chose to form that precious connection. "You are that sure, are you?"
She turned around to face him. "Oh, I'm sure I'll get my dragon." It occurred to her that she needed to leave herself open, just in case.
"Perhaps not at this Hatching, but soon enough anyway." She tossed her thick, wet hair. "Besides, you'd better hope I don't Impress at the Hatching." She put her face so close to his that her lips touched his as she spoke. "After all, if I become a weyrling, I won't be able to do this, will I?" She kissed him and her hands submerged under the water.
The surprised brownrider could do nothing but respond.
Sonesra and Calirin watched the exchange and smiled at each other. As they moved away from the couple, they both grinned knowingly as they heard Nasiria ask, "Is your weyr available?"
