The music chimed in Madelon's ears as it began to echo in the Dinning Hall. A couple quickly took advantage of the spontaneous music, and whirled across the floor while the lyrics of the music began to weave with the guitar, pipes and drums. The singer was a bluerider in the weyr, with a soft tenor voice that opened with the first verse with the gentle pick of the guitar strings.

In the hills of my hold There lived a girl Who's eyes always looked towards the sky.
She was betrothed to me My life belonging to she And soon she would be mine.

As he started the chorus, his voice cried out with the pipes.

Oh Desdani! How can it be?
My heart ever twined with thee.
I gave you everything I ever had But your love had a different demand.

Her dress flowed white As her face shine bright, My loving bride she was, she cried.
Until the dragon came Proclaiming her name And her tears no longer shed for I.

Oh Desdani! How can it be?
My heart ever twined with thee.
My love for you was always strong, But your eyes looked to the skies and beyond.

I begged my love 'Please do not leave' And her eyes looked back to me.
Her dreams were clear, she could not stay here, And she did just as I feared.

Oh Destani! How can it be?
My heart ever twined with thee.
But your love was never meant to be won, And so you left with the dragon.

Three turns have passed Sense my Destani has left But now a different love I have.
While in the weyr now free, rest Destani Along side a great glowing Queen.

Oh Desdani! With your trumpeting Queen, Your life now living your dream.
In the weyr you found your own love As your Queen rose high above.

As the song ended, the people of the Dining Hall, applauded the bluerider, but he was not done. Instead his hands strummed another tune. It was more instrumental and up beat, as space was made for more dancers.

"Madelon!" Samira called out to him, and took his hand to the dance floor. He did not even know what he was doing until he was whirling with his friend along side of the other dancers. She glowed up at him as he cross body led her, before twirling her again.

"I'm so excited for you!" she remarked once they connected again. She really seemed enthusiastic about the hatching in the next day or two, but he caught the touch of envy.

"You'll be old enough by the time the next hatching comes along,"
Madelon assured her. He whirled her under his arm, and around his back before catching her at the other side.

"I hope so." She beamed up at him, before she turned away.

Did she just blush? He could have sworn he just saw the faint red spread on her fair skin, but he pushed the possibility aside, and continued to enjoy his dance with her.

As the music ended and the next song began, Samira thanked Madelon before she dashed into the crowd to find another dancer. He caught her dragging a reluctant Nicalos onto the floor who eventually caved into her demands.

The bluerider began the next song.

My beautiful Blue you are confused, Why think yourself a bronze?
With your off hue, bronze isn't you So be happy you are a Blue...

"You ready to head back to the barracks?" Enrad approached Madelon as they watched the comical show of Nicalos attempting to dance to the bluerider's jig.

"You sure you don't want to join them?"

Enrad watched Nicalos suffer before answering. "I'd rather not. Let's go before Samira finds her next victim."

Madelon complied for Enrad's sake, but looked over his shoulder back to Nicalos.

You tried to fly our loving Queen, Despite your small status in size.
And the fact you could not rise...
As high as our loving Queen.
The bronzes flew past, laughing at you Your wings not strong enough to fly While the others rose to the sky For Queens are not greens, and not for blues My beautiful Blue you are confused, Why fancy yourself a bronze?
With your off hue, bronze isn't you So be happy you are a Blue...
