Early morning surprise

Description: An'dr and Ava's ordinary morning turns out to be extraordinary.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 7 of Turn 4

"Good morning!" The bluerider grinned at the young greenrider as he bent to pick up the brush he was about to use on Pluserth.

"'Morning, An'dr. Seems like your lifemate had a same idea about morning bath" Ava replied and tried to suppress a yawn.

"He said something about itching, and coming to sit on me if I didn't get out to bathe him." Not that a full grown dragon would do that, but the threat had worked well enough.

"I wonder if that's any better than Mindy's 'I'm so dirty'- whining," Ava grinned.

}: I do not whine :{ the dragon interrupted with dignified tone.

"Pluserth tried that one too," An'dr said, understanding her tone.
"Something about how he'd never be clean again unless I got him down to the task as soon as possible."

"Manipulative, aren't they," Kustaava said and slapped Mindath. ** Get yourself wet before I start to scrub.**
The green gracefully waded to the water and slid under the surface.

"Worse than little children, or so I hear," joked An'dr as he scrubbed under the dragon's wing.

"Pretty much the same actually," Ava said with some thought. She had plenty of experience of small children. She came from large family and had helped her mother to take care of her younger siblings.

"You've got lots of brothers and sisters? Right?"

"Yes, too many if you ask me," she rolled her eyes. "Poor Mom has been constantly pregnant since she married." Mindath returned from her swim and Ava attacked her hide with the brush.

"You know my sister right? I've got two more brothers at the Harper Hall with Ma and Da."

"At the Dolphin Cove weyr? That's the otherside of the Pern!"

"I know, and I ended up here."

"Life sure is strange," Ava commented.

"It is. Mama told me she thought I'd be a printer like her and Da, get married have children and live at the Hall. Instead I'm here, scrubbing a blue dragon!"

"Mmm, not really a bad option," Kustaava said. She concentrated on Mindath for a while, getting those tricky spots between back ridges cleaned out.

"What about you?" asked An'dr after a bit as he sent Pluserth to rinse off.
"What if you'd stayed with your family?"

"Married off, having children one after one. My father had already picked up a husband for me when I was searched. That's why he got so angry," Ava said.

"At least here you have a choice over what to do and whether to have children or not."

"Luckily for me. I don't want any right now. I like children but I'm not ready to have ones." Ava said. She stepped backwards to inspect her lifemate. **Don't you look pretty now. You're actually glowing. **

}: I always do. And Pluserth thinks so too. :{ the green replied, preening and strutting in front of the blue.

"She's a flirt," Ava grinned.

"He's noticed."

}:I did too, Mindath, you are a beautiful green,:{ the blue told her.

The green looked rather smug.

Ava shared an amused look with An'dr. She started to gather up her brushes and other things. "Shall we go to breakfast now?" she asked the bluerider.

"Why not?" he agreed as he got his own gear together. "I'm sure leaving these two together will be okay."

"They are fullgrown dragons. What mischieve they could come up with?
Mindath's not due to rise yet," Ava replied.

"There'd be some sort of plotting going on I bet, but knowing Pluserth, he'll forget the details even as he tried to tell me."

Kustaava didn't have a chance to answer when Mindath's loud, challenging call proved her earlier statement wrong. "Whoops, looks like I miscalculated her cycle. No wonder she looked so beautiful," she said and turned around. She also noticed that there were other men, riders, approaching them and Pluserth wasn't Mindath's only admirer. But the blue did had an advange, when the green suddenly sprang to the air without further warning.

Pluserth followed Mindath. }:I told you that you are beautiful, let me prove it to you,:{ he called. }:Be mine.:{ It became rather short mating flight. Pluserth was just too close for Mindath to avoid him long and she had not blooded before rising.

On the ground An'dr took Ava into is arms as Pluserth caught Mindath. The pair slowly found their way to the nearest flight room.

"Seems like the breakfast is going to have to wait," Ava murmured breathlessly when the winner claimed his prize.
