Somewhat improper

Writers: Emma, Paula
Date Posted: 31st January 2008

Characters: Fieayz, Alrog
Description: Fieayz makes an 'offer' to Alrog
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 8, day 4 of Turn 4

Fancy seeing you here," Fieayz came along behind the young Lord as she walked back to the Smith Hall from the main Hold at Garnet Valley. "I was just taking these back to our kitchens." The young woman had a basket of herbs over her arm, "The cook wanted something specific and we were out, so I volunteered for the walk."

"Hi Fieayz. Iron Lake does provide the hall with ore, so I do have reason to visit the hall every so often," the young man replied.

"It's good to see you again," she said. "It has been a while." And although she hadn't been starved for company, she had found herself missing Alrog.

"So it is to see you too," Alrog replied.

"How is your sister doing? And the baby?"

"Perfectly well, the baby's growing fast. Unfortunately, having a grandchild, has made my mother more determined to see me married and having children," Alrog replied and sighed.

"Granny's are like that. Mine told me in a letter that Papa should have found me a husband long ago."

"At least you don't have a hold that you need to produce a heir for.
Sometimes I feel like some sort of breeding animal."

"Like a prize ovine?" joked Fieayz, although she knew if she married there'd be an expectation of children sooner rather than later.

"Yes," Alrog laughed. "They strut me out just for a show. If I suddenly disappeared, the hold would go on as usually."

"Maybe you should just disappear for a day or two," she suggested with a grin. "See if things really do happen like that."

"That might be fun, I haven't have vacation in...ever," Alrog said wistfully.

"Where would you go?" she asked, a note of curiosity appearing in her voice.
"If you could go any where on Pern?"

"To the seashore. Somewhere with long, golden sand beaches and warm seas," Alrog said dreamily.

"Sounds nice, just like River Bluff."

"You have been there? I never seen ocean," Alrog asked.

"My Uncle is a brownrider there, and Mama, well she moved there. I was there for a while and that's where I got Arva." On hearing her name, as if it was a summons, the little gold appeared with the faint almost popping sound that indicated she'd come from /between/. She chittered at the pair, as though scolding them for an imaginary crime.

"And I've been stuck to Garnet Valley for whole of my life. I was even fostered here, at the main hold," Alrod did sound bit envious.

"Maybe next time I manage to visit Mama you, you might like to come too.
See the sea at last, and the beaches... And it's always warm and sunny there as well."

"That would be wonderful," Alrog sounded wistful. But he doupted it would ever happen.

"Then I'll ask my uncle if he can come and take us sometime?"

"Please do." It was probably awfully improper but what the shells!

Daynar would kill her if he had heard her make such an improper offer, or if it came to his ears, but she didn't care. The atmosphere of the Weyr might loosen the young Lord up a little and make for a more interesting time, or so she thought. "Maybe it will happen soon."

"Well, you know where to find me if it does happen," Alrog said.

"Arva will find you, she knows you and that little blue of yours now."

"She also knows where I keep Lapis' treats," Alrog grinned.

"I bet she does," Fieayz grinned. "And she'll be begging for them sooner than you know."

"I'll be waiting for her. But now I must leave. I still have people to meet," Alrog said.

"It was good to see you again." Fieayz smiled at him, it was genuine, she did enjoy Alrog's company.

"Likewise," Alrog said with warm smile. He did like Fieayz, as a friend.
