Characters: M'delon
Description: M'delon and Valinth play in the snow after a long day at class
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 19 of Turn 4

It had been a long day for M'delon as he finally reached the barracks.
He found that he was exhausted, but he still had enough strength to roam through the weyr. After he changed into a clean shirt and trousers an eager Valinth joined him, and the two began to wonder in the weyr bowl together. There was still a lot of snow on the ground, the weyrling noted to himself as the snow crunched under his feet, but there was not as much as there had been. He liked to to take it as a sign that Spring would arrive shortly, and that the weather would finally warm up at last.

}:What is spring?:{ Valinth prodded curiously as he began to wonder away from M'delon.

**It's when all the snow goes away and the weather becomes warm**

The brown craned his head around to his rider. }:Like the lake?:{
**Well** maybe not that warm. **Sort of** The heat from the winter lakes was more like Summer.

}:I think I'll like this Spring. But I'll be sad when the snow goes:{ Valinth shoveled some snow with his head and flung it playfully at M'delon. His eyes whirled in deep hues of green as he frolicked around, tossing the snow up around him. }:Will we fly in Spring?:{ Valinth founded that he wanted to test his wings, but he knew that M'delon would not approve. }:I really want to fly:{
**I do too** and he could barely wait. In another sevenday or two he would start riding on Valinth's shoulders, and then in another three sevendays... **I can't wait to fly with you Valinth**

The brown let out an impatient bugle as M'delon walked to his brown and held him for a moment. Oh, how he wanted to fly, M'delon thought.
But they had to wait. T'mahl warned the weyrlings what would happen if they flew too soon. He could injure Valinth if he was not careful, and of course there was always the punishment if they tried. The consequences were not worth it, but still, he wanted to fly.

Valinth nudged M'delon's hand with his nose. }:You can't hurt me:{ he insisted.

And of course Valinth felt invincible, which never helped much, and perhaps he was, but M'delon did not want to test that.

It was a tender moment between the two of them as they leaned against each other, but it was all broken when Valinth scoped up some snow with his wing and dumped it on his rider. }:I want to play!:{ he proclaimed.

M'delon barely had time to react as Valinth slipped his head between M'delon's legs. The young weyrling fell to Valinth's back. For a moment he was able to steady himself there until he lost balance and tumbled into the snow. "Whoa!" He called out as he fell belly first into the snow.

}:M'delon?:{ Valinth nudged M'delon apologetically. For a moment he began to worry that he had injured his rider.

It was the perfect opportunity. The weyrling surprised his dragon and he got quickly back to his feet and tossed a snowball at the Valinth.
Valinth bugled out as if verbally saying "No fair!" before he ran off quickly away from his rider. The two of them chased each other back and forth, throwing snow at one another until M'delon finally lost the last of his strength fell back into the snow with Valinth right next to him.

}:Can we do that again?:{ Valinth's eyes whirled earnestly as he set his head on M'delon's belly and watched him intently.

**Maybe** M'delon sighed as he looked up at the fading sky. Another day was ending, which meant another one was beginning, and that was another day closer to the day they would fly.

}:Where do you want to go when we finally fly?:{ Valinth had seen so little of the world around him, and he wanted to see so much more, but he did not know where to begin.

**North, to the warmer parts of the Southern Continent. It's always warm there** M'delon had been there once, when B'shen took him to a hatching there, but it was long enough that his memory began to fail him on some of the details. Now, he wanted to relive it again.

}:I would like that. Where else do you want to go?:{ he continued to inquire.

That was a good question, and then he knew **The Northern Continent, maybe** But he wondered if he would ever have the chance to go. Still it was a good dream to dwindle on.

Valinth only rested there, skimming the thoughts that surfaced in his riders thoughts. }:Maybe someday:{ he responded to the ideal of the North, though he barely comprehended it's importance.

**Yeah** He laid there for a few more minutes allowing the last of the sun's light to disappear from his view. **We should get back to the weyr** though he wanted to stay. Still the snow was start to bite at his skin through the layers of his wher-hide jacket.

Valinth let out a yawn agreeing with M'delon. }:Can we do this again tomorrow?:{ he asked of his rider as he stood back to his feet.

**Of course**

Together to two made their way back to the barracks, and were followed quickly by sleep.
