Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 21 of Turn 4

"I can't stand him! He's insufferable," N'los began as the three of them sat with their beasts and watched the other dragons at the winter weyr lake. He fidgeted with his shoulder not, and pulled hard at the cords as he released his frustration. "I mean what does he have against green and blueriders?"

"He's hold-bred, he has everything to hold against them," R'set replied as he stuck a dried piece of orange fruit in his mouth. "You just can't let it get to you."

"But he's a bluerider!" N'los continued with more frustration barking in his tone.

"H'nural's just in denial, so let it go," M'delon finally inserted his own opinion.

N'los still allowed the thought to continue rankling in his mind. It was so insulting, he was so insulting, and so was... "You know who also gets to me, L'rew. That boy that smelled like ovine when he first came here. I mean, did you see what he said to Ch'lis and A'mus?"

"We don't know what happened," M'delon warned his friend. He did not see what happened, but he had heard several versions of the tale filter through the rumor mill of the weyrling barracks. **Do you know what happened?**

}:Chairoth said his rider said Ch'lis said mean things to him and then Chairoth got upset. And then Chairoth's said something that really hurt Ch'lis and Omath wanted to protect his rider, and Inith says he was protecting his little brother from Chairoth's too:{ He replied with some agitation. }:I don't like Chairoth's either:{ M'delon was surprised at Valinth's own distaste of L'rew. He did not even say his name.

"He called A'mus a _greenrider_ for protection Ch'lis from him. A greenrider! As if it were an insult!"

"No he didn't, he said something like 'Yeah, come protect your lover and show how truly green your dragon's hide is.'" Though R'set had to admit that was a pretty horrible thing to say.

"But Ch'lis provoked him," M'delon attempted to defend. **Why don't you like L'rew?**

}:He's mean:{ "Where you there?" N'los prodded of his friend. "Because I was, and it sure looked like L'rew was being the bully that he always was. Ch'lis was in tears while Omath was going crazy protective and L'rew kept yelling at him and made it worse."

"I heard that L'rew got off the hook," R'set muttered his own disappointment.

"Because maybe he did nothing wrong." M'delon refused to believe that L'rew was a bad person, and he knew that people always misunderstood him. However, he had seen that side of L'rew come out before. **He's never been mean to me**

}:I don't like him because of what Inith and Omath said he did:{ "Watch him become a group leader," N'los bitterly muttered.

That was not as horrible as they made it out to be. "I'd follow him,"
M'delon defended. **But you weren't there**

}:I don't like him:{ Valinth would not sway from his opinion of the brownrider. }:And I don't want him to hurt you too:{ "Over A'mus?" N'los had to disagree. "At least he defends blue and greenriders, instead of hates them."

"Well, I don't know if I'd want to be led by A'mus either," R'set snored out. "I think at this point I'd rather be led by J'simo."

They all fell silent as they pondered over the thought... and then they began to roll in laughter.

"I never thought I'd see the day when we'd say that." M'delon recalled a time when they were chased by the bully, and teased endlessly, and now they were choosing him over A'mus and L'rew for a group leader. He could not stop laughing, to the point where water began to coat his eyes. Then, as the tears of laughter glimmered in his eyes he caught the small brown shape fly past his eyes. "Whoa," he rubbed the water out of his eyes and looked around attempting to spot the blur. It flew by too quickly "What," N'los attempted to calm himself down.

"Did you see it?" M'delon stood to his feet now, and looked around the cavern. "I think it was a flit. It was really small though."

"So, it was a flit," R'set shrugged.

"But it was little, like a hatchling." Could it be possible that...

A little brown firelizard appeared again hovering in front of M'delon's face. He looked at M'delon with his small head cocking this way and that, as if inspecting him curiously.

}:Don't move:{ Valinth cautioned his rider as he watch the flit himself. }:He looks like me:{ "He's like a Valinth miniature," R'set replied as he studied the little beast.

The hides did perfectly match, only the flit had lighter patches of brown under his jaw and on his belly. His head was a perfect diamond shape with small jeweled green eyes, and his arms and legs were small and delicate with his thin translucent wings. His tale rolled around in the air as he stayed a moment longer with the boys before he let out a final trill and disappeared /between/.

}:Where did the little one go?:{
**/between/** M'delon replied with his own amazement.

"Do you think that was Enrad's?" N'los asked what they were all thinking.

It had to be, M'delon thought with a grin. They found him a good one, he thought smugly to himself.

"Hey guys!"

The three of them turned their attention from each other to the boy that approached them in the distance. It _was_ Enrad and with the little brown flit too that zipped over his head. The three dashed over to their friend and quickly greeted him.

"You got a brown," R'set commented with approval. "What's his name?"

"Mal," R'set replied with a grin. He tapped his shoulder for the flit to land, and Mal compliantly did so. "He hatched on the fourth day this month. He's grown a lot."

"He's still really small though," M'delon watch the little brown.

"I know, but as I said, he's growing fast." Enrad gave the flit a little scratch on his eye ridge before he looked back at them. "I wanted to thank you guys again for what you did. I mean," he looked back at Mal "You guys got me a flit, what can I say."

"Thank you is good enough," M'delon brushed off. He was happy they could at least do something for Enrad, who had stood twice now and failed.

"Yeah, thank you is good enough, just as long as you stand again,"
N'los continued.

M'delon and R'set seconded N'los.

"I'll stand again. Don't worry. But I got sometime before I have too again, which'll be nice." Besides, Enrad needed that break.

"Good," M'delon replied before he began to motion for the kitchen.
**Is it okay if...** began but Valinth already knew.

}:It's okay:{ He responded agreeably.

"You want to join us? We were going to get a bite to eat for lunch."

"Yeah," N'los agreed with M'delon. "We haven't seen you in forever."

"That sounds good. Besides I could use some food," Enrad laughed.

Mal chirped his favor for a meal too.

"Sound like Mal's in too," M'delon eyed the little flit.

"Come on, let's go," N'los began to rush to the lake exit. "I think their serving lunch in the next candlemark."

The three laughed at N'los before they joined him.
