R'yin?" Kitali's voice was soft as she called to the healer. She wanted to see him, having seen how gentle he was with Beryl. Of course, she was sure the other healers were capable, but for some reason she just felt she should see the man who had originally seen Beryl to begin with. The said firelizard was tucked under her arm, her eyes better than before, but a thin tint of grey haunted the blue jewels.

R'yin wasn't working in the dragon infirmary today, but he had gotten a note from Kitali asking him to look at Beryl again. Worried about his patient, even if only a fire lizard and not the normal dragon, he had told her he would meet her there and take another look. He had offered other dragonhealers - he was a rather low ranking one - but she had asked for him specifically.

He came out of the back and smiled a bit at her, then looked down to her bundle. "Hello Kitali. She having some trouble recovering?"

"She keeps nipping at the stitches." The harper explained, moving Beryl so that the healer could get a better look at her. "It's gotten infected." She wasn't a healer, but she could tell an infection when she saw one.

A frown as he once again took her from Kitali. He began his examination right away. "You've been putting the numbweed on 3 times a day?"

Kitali nodded. "Yes, I have. I don't know why she picks at it -
maybe she realises she's supposed to feel something there and it bothers her that she doesn't?" The harper shrugged. As long as something could be done about it, she wouldn't worry - much.

He considered the flit for a moment, then said, "Well, she's gotten it infected. What if we made her a little collar or something for her neck out of a soft tunic? Large enought that she couldn't quite get her snout to that spot on her side. If I bandage it, she'll just bother the bandage and it won't heal as fast anyway. I'm going to wash it with redworth right now and try to combat the infection a bit with an herb poultice."

He went to gather the redwort and washed his hands again in the solution so he could clean up the poor little flit.

"All right." Kitali nodded, though she honestly didn't know much about how to treat infection save for redwort. She continue to stroke Beryl, trying to hold her as still as possible. "It's all right, this won't take too long." She soothed to the little creature.

He swabbed the wound with redwort gently, but thoroughly. All across her side and even a bit on her belly. "Your pretty green flit might have a bit of red on her today." He said kindly, moving away from Beryl when he was done to start making up the herb mixture for her wound. Mosstea, he thought, and some others that would help.

Beryl pecked at the healer's hand, though she didn't really do it with real malice. Her eyes whirled at him and she chirped. "It's okay girl." Kitali said softly. "It won't last long."

"Easy, girl." He scolded gently. "I'm just going to make you feel better and get rid of the nasty infection, alright?" He smiled up at Kitali. "She must be feeling a bit better, hmm?"

"Yes, she's definitely perked up." Kitali agreed, returning the smile.
"I just wish she wouldn't pick at her wound."

He smiled warmly at her. "I think I can promise she won't this time.
You take very good care of her, Kitali. I am glad to help you, anytime."

"I try." The harper replied softly, returning the smile. "And I'm grateful for your help."

His smile warmed as he looked at her, then put his eyes back to Beryl.
"I'll come and check on her personally, in a few days, if you don't mind?" He said almost shyly. That was a little unusual for dragonhealers, who had their own dragons to care for and their own duties. He didn't meet her eyes, being a little shy, but he did think that it would make a nice excuse to see her kind eyes again.

"Oh?" Kitali laughed softly. "I don't mind at all. In fact, I think it would give me some peace of mind."

Now he did smile up at her. "And me. I like all my patients and their owners to recover nicely." He stepped away to wash his hands again, then turned back to her. "I am not on duty here today.
Perhaps I'll walk you and Beryl home?"

The offer was a surprise and that surprise crossed over Kitali's features.
It was replaced momentarily by a smile. "You're very kind, and good company is always appreciated."

R'yin smiled back briefly. "Just taking care of my patients." He extended his arm to her, the one unencumbered by Beryl.

Kitali slid her hand into the crook of his shoulder. "Well, you're taking good care of them.
