K'reyel

K'reyel

"Come in bluerider." The Weyrleader was responding to an expected knock at his office door. It would be a pleasure to see the man today, particularly after the compliment he had received about his conduct. K'reyel felt that the bluerider should hear them, and had asked Erdenth to call him in.

E'rae opened the door, then shut it behind him. He didn't think it odd that his Wingleader would want to see him, but he couldn't help but be curious. "Sir." He nodded then adjusted his jacket.

"Relax bluerider, there's nothing to worry about," assured K'reyel. "In fact, take a seat."

E'rae didn't necessarily know the true meaning of the word relax, but he did take a seat and seemed to somehow look less serious than usual.

"I had a compliment about you, and I wanted to pass it on, as it will go on your record," explained K'reyel. "You were out a sevenday or so back and responded to a message flag?"

Understanding came then and E'rae nodded, remembering. "Yes sir. I was near one of Garnet Valley's minor holds." He had been back in his old stomping grounds, trying to renew contacts with a few crafters.

"Would you like to tell me your version of events?" asked the Weyrleader. "Aye well it was sometime in the afternoon. I'd been meeting with a glasscrafter that makes beads.. I left there and was flying over when I saw the flag." His eyes half closed as he remembered the events. "Leith landed and I found that it was a small outlying hold. They were in need of a healer's attention. I took their information and then went to the main Hold and alerted the Hold's Healer."

"The Holder there and the Healer were very complimentary about you. They said that your actions saved a life." The letter he'd received from the Hold said that there had been an accident and that the injured man could have bled to death if it hadn't been for the appearance of the dragonrider and him taking the Healer to the site.

"I just saw it as my duty Sir. I'm sure anyone else would have done the same thing." As usual, the bluerider was very quiet and humble. He valued both Duty and Tradition more than anything except his dragon. "It's good to know everything came out well though."

"Never the less, you did well, and the Holders appreciate that."

"Thank you sir." Not knowing what else to say or do, E'rae watched K'reyel. The bluerider had been a holder once and he knew how hard the life could be at times.

"It'll be noted on your record as I said. And on the holder's behalf I'm passing on their thanks."

"I understand, Weyrleader." Formalities were part and parcel of Tradition. E'rae accepted the token of gratitude and reached his hand out to shake K'reyel's to show it.

"Well done, keep it up."
