The children rushed out with a wave of giggles. Older ones took
younger, but a few parents came by to gather their flock. One in
particular caught Kitali's eyes as he hovered and Kitali smiled. The
thing was, his daughter wasn't in that particular class. "I didn't
expect to see you here, R'yin."
R'yin was shy, compared to how he usually treated Kitali. His cheeks
visibly reddened. "Hello, Kitali. No, no. Cirina is not in this
class. But I.. ahh... I came to see you."
"Really now?" Kitali glanced around as if expecting his daughter to
pop up in surprise, but the child was nowhere in sight. Kitali
motioned for him to follow her into the classroom. "Is there
something wrong with Cirina?"
"Not at all." He was quiet a moment more, trying to remember how one
did this. He had not done it in months. His voice was quiet, but
warm, "Kitali, I ..." he smiled at her. "I would like to take you to
dinner. I mean..without children." His cheeks reddened further.
"Oh? Oh!" The harper laughed in surprise. "Is that so? Well, I
must say, that sounds like a pleasant idea. When?"
"Tomorrow evening? I thought tonight might be too short of notice,
but I am looking forward to spending time with you." He watched her
face for a moment, wondering if he was doing a bad job of this - he
hadn't done it in so very long.
"Tomorrow would be perfect." The day after would be a rest day, so
they wouldn't have to wory about staying up too late either. "What
time?"
He considered his schedule, and finally said, "Around the 19th
candlemark? or is that too late? We can have dinner in the dining
hall, or we could have a little evening picnic out by the beach. What
do you think?"
"I'm fine with either." He looked so nervous. It was cute, Kitali thought.
"Where ever you would be more comfortable."
R'yin blushed - yes he did. "I think a picnic sounds lovely. I'll
see you then, yes?"
"Yes." Kitali nodded, "I'll see you then."
