Visiting Again

Writers: AL, Kaysea
Date Posted: 20th September 2008

Characters: Misara, Raistinor
Description: Raistinor visits the South again and talks with Misara for a while.
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 11, day 25 of Turn 4

"Hello again, Misara." Raistinor had entered the tavern and looked
specifically for Misara. He found her behind the bar and
approached, giving her a smile. "It's good to see you again."

"Raist? You're back!" she smiled welcomingly across the bar to the
journeyman, "What would you like?" She brushed at the bar with her
cleaning cloth, again, sweeping crumbs left by the previous occupant
into her hands.

"Hello Misara." Raistinor gave the woman a warm smile before settling
onto a stool. "Yes, I'm back for a bit. How have you been?"

"So so. Now the weather's warming the children are starting to fall
prey to those spring colds, but custom at the Tavern is also
increasing again, which keeps us busy."

"And that can only be a good thing, right?" Raistinor chuckled.
"Looks like I'll be one of your customers. I could do with some
food."

"What would you like?" she asked, "We have a varied selection on the
menu today." she said pointing across to the board which displayed the
meals available that day.

"Ah...redfin sounds good with fingeroots and tubers." Raistinor wiped
his hands upon his legs. "I might have to order two plates, though,
I'm pretty hungry."

"Oh? You've walked far today then?" she asked, writing down the order
while she talked.

"I've walked back and forth from place to place to place." Raist
heaved a sigh and rubbed his eyes. "I've been trying to get things
prepared."

"Prepared? Excuse me a moment, I'll just take your order out to the
kitchen. Would you like to sit here at the bar to eat, or would you
prefer a table?" she asked, turning back to him for a moment.

"I'll sit here." Raistinor's hands swept over the bar. "Then I can
talk to you as I eat. More pleasant that way."

"Okay, that's fine as long as you don't mind watching me work. I'll be
back in a moment, I'll just let the cook know." She qwuickly
disappeared out the back to the kitchen where she pinned the order to
the board above the stove. Barthella must be in the cool room, but she
would see the order the minute she stepped back into the kitchen,
since it was the first of the day.

"So - where were you, again?" she asked, appearing back behind the bar,
and pouring a glass of house wine for the journeyman.

"Oh, nothing really." Raistinor shook his head and sipped at his wine.
"I was just making polite conversation. Anything exciting happen
lately?"

"No, I meant where were you - where did you go? Visiting relatives,
weren't you?"

"My brother and family." Raistinor nodded. "They moved down here a
while back and I'm visiting them once more. It's rather difficult for
me. I like being close to family."

"Have you considered transferring down here?" she asked, refreshing his
drink.

"Actually, that's one of the reasons for this trip." Raistinor
confided as he took his newly filled mug. "I'll be speaking with
Master Causton as soon as I can find him. After I eat, of course."

"I'm sure he'll be agreeable. He appreciates the need for more fully
trained journeyman to get the Hall back on its feet."

"Well, that's assuming I don't bring it back down by coming here."
Raist teased lightly. "I'll try my best not to."

"From what I remember," she said, glancing around the tavern to make
sure no one appeared to be listening to them, "you were quite
talented. I doubt you'll bring the Hall down at all."

"The trip down here has addled your brain." Raistinor tapped his
head. "You must be remembering incorrectly."

"Nothing of the sort." she laughed, but the laughed halted as she heard
a quiet tinkle from the room behind her. "Your meal is probably
ready, I'll just go and check."

She reappeared a few moments later with the tray carrying his meal.
"I'll leave you to eat in peace for a few moments, I have to go and
check on the other diners." she slipped the plate from the tray and
placed it in front of him with his utensils. "Enjoy!"

"Thank you." Raistinor nodded to her then watched as she flitted away
before turning to his food. Good food, good company, good Hall. Best
of all, he'd be near family. Yes, transferring was the right choice.
