"Anyone home?" Demalia knocked at the door of Karaya's new weyr.

Karaya smiled as she recognized the voice. She quickly opened the door and smiled larger. "I am. Come in, come in. How have you been?" She asked as she let the other rider into her finely finished weyr.

"Busy," she said with a grin. A hatching seemed to cause at least four times as much work as the actual weyrlings themselves. All the preparation that was needed for the newest riders, and plans to deal with those who were left standing... It all had to be done first.

"I can imagine." She smiled as she fetched some glasses and fruit juice. "Life been okay other then busy?"

"The usual," replied the other greenrider with a grin.

"That's good. Me I can't wait to get this baby out. I feel huge and my back is killing me." She sighed as she sat down.

"I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end. I bet you and Ch'lvias are going to make great parents." Demalia paused to pour some juice from the jug Karaya had brought. "Decided on any names yet?"

"Rayvia if it's a girl and Krayios if a boy." She smiled as she repeated their chosen names. "According to the healers I'm already about the size I should be near the very end. I don't think I can get any bigger."

"Rayvia is very pretty, I like how that sounds. Was that your choice?"
asked Demalia, passing Karaya a glass. She took a sip from her own drink and found a seat.

"It was one of Ch'lvias's suggestions and I just fell in love with it."
She smiled as she took a sip of her juice.

"Just like you fell for him no doubt."

She blushed only slightly, "Of course. I still find it hard to believe sometimes."

"I'm happy for you, I really am."

"Have any young men caught your fancy?" She asked.

"I'm happily single for the moment," replied the other greenrider.
Okay, so there was one guy she had a crush on, but she wasn't going to tell him or anyone that. It was her business, not theirs for the moment.

"Well, just be careful. The guys around here may just change that for you." She knew a few that would find it a challenge to do so.

"You never know."

Karaya chuckled. "I'm sure you will let them try." She refilled their glasses. "So has anyhting exciting happened to you, do you have any gossip?"

"Only the usual. That there's a new group of weyrlings and the gold went to the one girl who'd about convinced herself she wouldn't impress." She grinned, "Strange how it goes, isn't it."

"I was wondering about her. I hadn't met her as of yet. So, what's your take on her?" She knew she had been missing out on a bit of the gossip of late.

"I think she'll do okay, like all of us did, she needs to get used to the fact that a dragon chose her." Demalia smiled, remembering the moment that Tapheth had come into her life.

"At first i found it hard to believe. But, now I am happy and content."
she smiled, "Though I can remember being afraid of doing something wrong."

"We all were," replied Demalia.

"know I'm trading that fear for a whole new fear." she self-consciously patted her abdomen.

"You'll do just fine."

"We've almost got everything ready now."

"There's not long left is there?" asked Demalia. Her friend was getting big now.

"Just a couple months left. Though I feel it can't come soon enough.
I'd like to be able to see my toes again." she smiled.

"I bet."

"I just hope I last the next couple months. The halers want me to stay as close to my weyr as possible and have declared that I am to do no more flying. As if I could still mount Rayeth. I can't even bathe her alone anymore." her sigh was echoed by her dragon.

"I'm sure Ch'lvias helps with that though," said Demalia. From what she knew of the bluerider, he wouldn't abandon her.

"Oh he does, as do all those Weyr brats. The weyr is full of little ones that enjoy coming to wash a dragon."

"They do indeed."
