"Honey, I'm home!" Dawyn called from the door and stomped the mud off from his boots. Today, he was actually on time for dinner.
Keles froze, her hands hovering just over the stack of plates. What was he doing home so early? After the fight they had had earlier this sevenday she'd have thought he wouldn't _want_ to be here with her.
And he had called her "honey."
She bit her lip, wondering at his sudden change of mood. Finally, she managed to call back, "I'm in the kitchen."
Dawyn was on cheerful mood and almost danced to the kithcen. "Hello. I got early today. We finished our project finally."
"That's good to hear, Dawyn," she smiled, but the look in her eyes was still guarded. Was he just going to pretend that their fight hadn't happened?
"So, until next project starts, I have nothing but some teaching to do" Dawyn chatted. The latest fight had completely been pushed out from his mind by other things.
"That means that you'll have more free time then, doesn't it?" She
wondered if he'd be home more, and she wasn't quite sure what to think about that.
"Yes, isn't that nice? I remember you complaining that I'm not home enough to help you. Do you want to go somewhere? Now would be perfect time to have a little vacation or visit relatives."
Keles was taken aback. "Well," she said after clearing her throat softly, "if you'd like, Dawyn..." She gave him a hesitant smile.
"I would like. A change could do us some good" Dawyn answered. He moved closed and wrapped his arms around her waist, misinterpriting her smile.
"So, what's the dinner?" he asked. "Can I suggest dessert?" his voice was low and husky.
She stared at him, and even though her thoughts were fleeting from one to the other, her body had its own mind, and was curving to fit his. **I should really _talk_ to him...** But Keles was sick of trying to talk and trying to make sense of their marriage and their relationship to each other. Sometimes it was easier just to bury things. Maybe she should...
Maybe...
"What are my choices?" Her low tone mirrored his as she tilted her head slightly to the side. Maybe going away _would_ do them both some good...maybe they'd get some stability...maybe....
Dawyn kissed the sensitive skin below her ear. "Let's see," he murmured amorously. "Sex, sex or...sex."
Just as her head tipped back, her lips slightly parted in invitation, Kelwyn began to wail from the other room. Keles blinked and lifted her head to look at her husband before straightening, pulling away from his arms to get to the baby.
"There, there now," she soothed, reaching down into the blankets to pull their son into her arms. "What's the matter, hmm?" Keles gently stroked the fussing baby's back, turning to look at Dawyn as he came over.
Dawyn pouted. "Does he always have to do that? Interrupt us just when we were getting somewhere?" he complained.
Keles didn't reply, and instead kept up her soothing murmurs to Kelwyn.
Finally, she said as she sat down on the sofa, "He'll go back to sleep soon enough, I think..."
"Right" Dawyn grunted, resigned to wait. "Meanwhile, how about that dinner?"
