"Are you you all right?" Railen asked Sorsha softly, not even bothering to watch the bronze as he went /between/.
Sorsha nodded as she buried her head into his chest, "I'm sorry Railen. Please don't be mad."
"I'm not mad." Railen assured her as he wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. "Not at you. He seemed rather presumptuous though."
"I think he's just worried about me." She tried to explain. "There was a misunderstanding..." she didn't know if it was a good idea to tell Railen.
"A misunderstanding?" The young man pulled back but only far enough to look down at her. "What sort of misunderstanding?"
She hesitated, but only a moment. They had said there would be no secrets between them. "Do you remember how I told you that I'lan was supposed to visit me again but then never came? My tunnelsnake of an uncle told him that I was getting married and didn't want to see him, and that's why he never came. Not because he didn't care about me."
"Oh." Railen didn't say anything more for a moment though his arms tightened around her. Finally, he asked softly, "Do you want to go?"
"To the Weyr?" she asked, looking up at him, "No. I want to stay with you."
"Are you sure?" Railen felt his chest loosen - he hadn't realized how tight it had gotten until she had said those words. "I want you to be happy."
She leaned into him again, squeezing him with a giant hug, "_You_ make me happy. There will be plenty of candidates for the dragons to choose from."
The last of the weight from his heart lifted and Railen bent down to kiss her deeply, holding onto her tightly. "I love you Sorsha." He whispered in her ear after he broke it off, wishing that they could be somewhere more private.
"I love you too." she broke out of the embrace, not oblivious to the fact that there were several people watching from a distance. "So, since I'm out here for the rest of the day, how can I help?"
"Keep me company?" Railen suggested. "Just help me as I go. I'll be glad of the time together." Even if it wasn't just the two of them.
Sorsha smiled, it would be fun to work with Railen out here in the field, they'd be doing it for the rest of their lives after all. "Sounds like a plan."
