"Railen..." she felt her heart racing and she hugged herself to his chest. She'd thought about this, she wanted it, but she couldn't help be nervous asking it. "I know we're not married yet... but I don't want to wait. I want to be with you, now."
"Huh?" Railen was rather taken aback. Of course he wanted her, wanted her right then, that very moment. Actually every moment of every day he thought about being with her, but he didn't think he'd hear those words before the deed was complete. "You do?"
Sorsha was suddenly embarrassed, she shouldn't have said anything. What if Railen was mad at her? What if he thought she'd given herself to others, oh this was a very bad idea. She tried to sit back up, "I, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything."
Railen pulled her back down and drew her back into his arms. "No, you should have. We're supposed to be able to talk about anything, remember?"
"But," she shook her head and hid her face in his chest. "But it's wrong of me to want you. We should wait until after the wedding."
"It's not wrong, it's right." Railen insisted as he placed a kiss upon the top of her head. "We love each other and that's not wrong." He reached down to tuck his hand beneath her chin and lifted it so that she would look at him. "I don't want to wait either."
Sorsha swallowed as her heart sped up again and she looked into Railen's beautiful blue eyes, "You don't?"
"Shards, Sorsha, if I had my way I would have whisked you off to the first harper I found, married you, and ravaged you as soon as you had said yes." Railen grinned broadly. "Which, by the way, we can still do."
She giggled despite herself, "I still want to get married on father's ship."
"We could do it secretly." Railen suggested, his lips brushing against the side of her head, just above her ear. "Then do it again on your father's ship with everyone there."
It didn't sound like a bad idea, then she wouldn't feel guilty for wanting Railen so much, but the practicalities didn't make sense. "We'd never make it to a hold with a harper without being discovered. And I don't want to upset our families. We should just wait, it's only a few more sevendays."
"I have a friend at the Hold. I could send him a message and ask him to come here." Railen suggested, his lips tickling Sorsha's ear.
Sorsha sighed, Railen really sounded like he wanted to be married first. She shouldn't have said anything, it was hasty of her, so she tried to sit up. "You're right. We should wait. I want to get married on my father's ship and so we'll just wait another few sevendays, I can be good."
"Now wait, I didn't say I didn't want to." Railen tightened his hold upon Sorsha and brought her down for a lingering kiss. When he pulled away, he smiled at her. "I don't want to wait, haven't wanted to wait for the longest time. I just didn't want to push you."
The kiss was wonderful, as always, and Sorsha couldn't help but relax against him. "Are you sure? I mean it, I can be good." This whole discussion was awkward, and she didn't want him to do anything he didn't really want to do just to save her feelings.
"I want to." Railen crooned, "But only if you're comfortable."
Sorsha couldn't help but laugh. "So I want to, and you want to, but neither one of us wants to because we're worried the other one doesn't want to?"
"I suppose that's one way of putting it." Railen pulled Sorsha the rest of the way down, lying her upon the blanket beneath them. "So I guess I should take that as a 'yes'?"
"Yes," she breathed, suddenly very nervous as he hung over her. They'd been closer than this before, so close that she could feel every inch of him against her, but this was different, she knew this would make them closer than ever and it scared her for a moment. "Railen?"
"Yes Sorsha?"
She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to find the courage to continue. She was with Railen, he was safe, she could trust him with herself. "I don't know what to do. I've never... have you ever...?"
Railen couldn't hide the expression of relief that crossed his face and he was glad that she wasn't looking at him. It wasn't that he would have turned her away had she been with another man, it was simply that he had never been with a woman himself and he wasn't sure he would be up to being compared with someone else. "No. I haven't."
Sorsha reached up and pulled his face to her so that she could kiss him. As much as him having experience might have made this go smoother, it was a unexpected relief to know that he didn't have any. That she was only for him and that he was only for her filled her with joy. After several long moments she broke the intense kisses, "I guess we have all afternoon to figure it out."
"I guess so." Railen whispered as his hands traveled down her arm then lower to play at her skirt. "So why don't we get started?"
"Okay." she replied, sliding her hands underneath his shirt and up so they grazed his chest. She was giving herself to Railen, and he was giving himself to her. They would be together, completely, now and forever.
