"Oh my!" Fieayz looked at the view. "That is just stunning!"
"Isn't it?" Alrog asked and offered her a water bottle. He took off
the ropes and coiled them on the ledge. "Wait till you see what in
there," He pointed the cave and dug out some glows from his bag.
She took the water bottle and opened it, taking a long drink. "There's
more?"
"Yes. A one of the local wonders of the nature. It's worth the effort
to climb all the way up here," Alrog said. "Come on," he asked and
gave her a glow. He led her to the cave. "Mind your steps, the ground
is uneven."
"Perhaps you can steady me," she suggested offering her other arm to Alrog.
"Love to," Alrog replied and took her arm. The corridor was narrow,
fallen rocks making the floor trecherous under your feet. In one spot
Alrog stopped and lifted up his glow to illuminate the wall. "That is
rose quartz," he pointed a pink vein on the wall. He picked up a fist
sized chunk of the pale rosy pink stone and gave it to Fieayz. "Here's
a little keepsake. You can have it cut to jewelry or keep it as it is."
She took the stone, holding it close to the glow to look at it properly.
"It's lovely, beautiful, maybe Papa will send me the marks to have it made
into a pendant. Thank you Alrog." She smiled up at the young Holder and
planted a kiss on his cheek.
"Your welcome," Alrog smiled and quided her deeper in. Soon the
corridor ended and before them opened a large cave. Mineral veins in
the wall glimmered in glow's soft light, multiplying it. In front of
them opened a fantasy landscape of rocks, chrystals and stalagmites.
Somewhere came the merry, bubbling sound of running water.
"Wow!" Fieayz was lost for words as she took in the sight. "I never would
have thought that something like this could be here. I think this is almost
more beautiful than outside."
"There's lot of hidden beauty in Iron Lake Hold, if you know where to
look," Alrog said, his voice a reverent and quiet. Talking loud here
felt wrong somehow. He pulled her in properly and they walked around
the cave. "That is a silver vein," he pointed a spot in the wall.
"For making chains?" she asked, and left another question about rings
unspoken.
"Not from this vein," Alrog said. "There are other veins, richer and
easier to work than this one," Alrog said, missing the unspoken hint.
"Could you make anything from this?"
"Not worth the effort, not until all the other veins are worked out.
Shall we have lunch? We can eat it here or go outside," Alrog said. He
was getting the feeling that they weren't exactly talking a about same
subject.
"Outside would be nice."
They walked back outside and seated at the ledge. Alrog started unpack
bread, meatrolls and wineskin from his backbag.
"Can I help with that?"
"Sure," Alrog handed her some of the items. "I think the cook got carried
away."
"She might have done. I hope it tastes as good as it looks," she said
setting the wineskin down, and reaching for a blanket to set the food on.
"It usually does. I got a good staff," Alrog said. He watched the
landscape that spread below them. "I really love this place."
"I can see why. That view is easy to love."
"Do you.. do you.. .could you love it too? It's a small hold but
_wealthy_" Alrog asked, suddenly very nervous.
"I think so," she said, turning towards Alrog, eyes lifting to meet his.
Suddenly Alrog was totally clueless of how to proceed this and unsure
what had been just said. Did he just propose her, (he had planned to)
and did she agree to it?
Fieayz looked at him expectantly. Was he about to ask her to marry him?
She'd agree faster than a dragon could /between/.
"What I'm trying to ask, with my clumsy, round-about way, is. Will you
marry me?" there, he has said it.
"Yes," she said simply, no hesitation.
"That's nice," Alrog said, which was probably the most lamest thing to
said. He was just too giddy to figure out anything more sensible to
say. But he was grinning like an idiot and leaned to kiss her.
What else could she do but kiss her fiance back. Nobody could object to that
now, not her father, not Daynar, not anyone.
