"So what have you been up to lately?" B'lamick asked as he sat next
to his best friend. He's seen the bluerider enjoying the impromptu
drum circle and had joined him. "It seems like we never get to hang
out anymore."

I'poro jumped as he felt a body at his side, his nose buried in a book
despite his rapt attention to the drum circle going on around him.
His look of surprise turned to one of excitement as he noticed who the
newcomer was. "That's the problem with different wings. You loose
touch." he replied with a rueful smile. "I haven't really been up to
much, so many new people to meet and get to know. I never realized
we'd have so much to do _after_ Weyrling training, and I thought it
felt like torture then." he chuckled a bit at the memories of boring
lessons and seemingly useless drills, who knew it all was prudent to
their future lives?

"You missed a good card game tonight, I should have invited you."
B'lamick replied as he watched two girls dancing and swishing their
skirts to the beats. "Jh'slaen busted me, and then F'naren got two
watch duties out of me before I finally had the good sense to call it
a night."

"Shards, tough luck buddie. I probably wouldn't have done much, never
really been that good at cards anyways." He couldn't help but grin.
Faranth this was awkward. Had they always been this way? I'poro
didn't think so. The silence drew on for a moment, extending past
calm to awkward. "Umm," I'poro said in that universal attempt to buy
time as he worked his brain to remember _something_ about his former
best friend. "Did you ever get with Honalyse?" he asked with an
awkward smile. Shards was this all he had? Who his friend was
bedding? Awkward.

B'lamick chuckled, "Oh it _has_ been a while since we've caught up.
Well you know I was going to go to that gather with her, right?" He
continued at the bluerider's nod, "Well, I just don't know what I ever
saw in her. First she ditches me for some young holders, and then
when she decides they aren't amusing her anymore, she calls me back
like I'm some sort of faithful canine."

"Ugh, that sounds awful. I'm sorry." he said, glad B'lamick hadn't
taken his memory loss to close to heart. There was another moment of
awkward silence, in which I'poro sincerely wished he'd stayed closer
with B'lamick than he had. "So why not instead of me making a bigger
fool of myself you tell me what you've been up too lately?" he said,
smiling at his own joke.

B'lamick shrugged, it wasn't just I'poro's fault they'd lost touch
lately, he could have made more of an effort himself. "Besides that
card game, not much. Just doing drills, saving the world, you know."

"Sounds fun," I'poro replied. "You know I'm a bit surprised. I
expected a stud like yourself to be fighting off the ladies with a
stick." He jabbed, nudging his friend with a playful elbow. "I know
if things were different I wouldn't be able to keep my hands off you."
he said with a chuckle, glad to talk to someone who didn't find it
unduly awkward that I'poro preferred men over women. He missed this
playful banter he realized, he'd have to make more of an effort to
stay on top of his old friend. Figuratively speaking of course.

"You know, its funny you mention that. According to a dragonhealer I
talked with, I really should be going after those ladies more."
B'lamick revealed. He'd hadn't really been worried about it then, but
he'd thought about it since and it did bother him a little. The giant
bundle of nerves he got when he even _thought_ about bedding a girl
didn't help, and if he could talk to anyone about it, it'd be I'poro.
"He pretty much said that the reason Latarth didn't chase more was
because I wasn't
_experienced_. Can you believe it?"

"Makes sense to me." I'poro said, leaning back to look at the
darkening sky. The first stars were already peaking out of the dark
velvet that was twilight. "I mean Foroth hasn't Chased near as much as
he probably should." I'poro didn't mention that since Impression the
young lad had been almost celibate. The lack of emotional connection
also made it a lot harder for the boy to truly connect, and the
Flights he'd been had never turned
out well. "And I'm certain I haven't helped with that near as much as
I should have." he
chuckled. "To bad you weren't a bluerider eh? We could help each
other out."

}:If you'd just _try_ it with a girl,:{ the blue began on his rider,
picking up on what his Bonded had been thinking, but I'poro stopped
him mentally.

**Not now stupidhead. I'm busy.** He smiled at B'lamick, trying to
help the boy see he was just joking, mostly.

B'lamick made as if he was studying his friend very hard, "You know,
if you'd just grow your hair out a bit, and maybe wear a dress around
me once in awhile..."

I'poro punched B'lamick roughly in the shoulder. "Haha very funny.
If I'm ever _that_ desperate please feel free to slap me across the
face." The bluerider was glad things hadn't become as awkward as he'd
initially felt, if they could still joke like this. He chuckled a bit
longer about his friends remark then turned to watch the dancers a
moment, his toe tapping lightly to the drum beat. "We really need to
do something about this don't we?" he asked, referring to both boys
single status.

"It'll happen when it happens." B'lamick replied with a shrug. "I'd
rather wait until it means something to me."

"True," I'poro agreed, "it's certainly better when it means
something." the blueriding boy shrugged. "I'm starting to wonder if
there's anyone at all out there really."

B'lamick gave his friend a consilitory pat on the back. "Boy, I sure
do know how to have a good time with my buddy. Here we are at a drum
circle, surrounded by music, dancing, and cheer, and we're talking
about being lonely. I must be tired." It had been a long day, and
his mood had been a little off ever since he realized Tey wasn't
coming to the card game.

"Tell me about it." I'poro agreed, chuckling over the irony of their
situation. "We've got some problems, that's for sure." he was smiling
though. I'poro'd missed this, he couldn't let himself get so
distanced from B'lamick again.
