Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 7, day 13 of Turn 3
Fielton was pleased to find Badia in their quarters when he returned to their quarters carrying the precious basket. He'd draped a small blanket over the top, not wanting the kittens to get cold--or jump out of the basket and leave him chasing them down the hallways of his Hall and making a greater fool of himself than he already had.
Badia was by the fireplace with her sewing--which he figured was probably going better by the simple fact that she didn't seem to be stabbing herself with the needle nearly as much as she had before. Pleased that his suggestion to seek out Miryene had worked, Fielton set the basket down on the footrest in front of her chair and smiled at her. "I brought you something, wife."
It was the best excuse she'd had to stop sewing all day and she set her work aside and smiled down at the basket. "Really..."
"Mmmhmmm." Fielton sat in the chair across from her and pulled one boot off.
He almost tossed it to the side and then thought better of it and placed it on the hearth. "Go on... look then!"
She almost waited to make sure both boots ended up where they belonged but was too excited to bother, instead lifting the cloth and peeking inside the basket. "Fielton! Two little ones...." She giggled and reached for the nearest. It was a small black feline...and the other was pure white.
"They're adorable!" She wasn't quite sure if she'd wanted _two_ of them however. Still, it would be churlish to turn away such a sweet gift..._gifts_ actually.
She lifted the other and cuddled them both close. "They're so soft..."
Fielton looked entirely pleased with himself. "Lindria helped me find them, but I chose those two on my own. I'm glad you like them."
She rubbed her nose against the soft fur and looked him, pleased. "I'll have to thank Lindria for assisting you, husband. You made an excellent choice..."
"They are rather nice to look at, aren't they?" Not that he was looking at the kittens...
"They're so _sweet_." Being thrilled by her gift, Badia was rather uanaware of her husbands sudden attention. "Did you get them food....and oh! We'll need somewhere for them to um..." She blushed and looked at him. "Well, to _go_." She was entirely too practical some times and knew this...
"There's food by the door," he replied absently. "We'll take care of that and the rest of it."
"All right, Fielton..." She giggled when one of the kittens tickled her cheek with its rough tongue. "I love them..."
Fielton moved the basket to the floor and sat on the footrest so he could be closer to his wife and her new pets. "So are you going to name them?"
"Oh dear! I suppose they will need names, now won't they?" She gazed down at him, thinking. "I'll name the black one and _you_ name the white one; since you got them for me, I shan't leave you out of the process!"
"Oh, no... I found them," Fielton said hastily. Name a _kitten_? "I was quite involved in the process already!"
"You're no fun at all!" Badia declared. "All right...they're officially...Night and Star...." Not exactly overly original, but it was the best she could do in a pinch!
"Good names." Fielton reached out to touch the little black kitten gently on the head, marveling at how small it was. Both kittens fit easily in one of his hands, and he'd been terrified that he'd handle them too roughly and end up hurting one of them before he managed to get them to Badia.
"And now, what shall I do for my very kind husband in kind, hmm...?" Badia pretended to think. "Perhaps just a kiss?"
Fielton smiled up at her, lifting one hand to touch the side of her face gently. "I'd like a kiss. Though maybe you should put the kittens down first."
"Especially since your kisses often lead to _more_ than just kisses!" Badia carefully set Night and Star in their basket, ignoring their mewls of annoyance, set the basket down and went to her husband, perching in his lap.
Since kisses--and _more_ than kisses--was exactly what Fielton had been hoping for when he'd brought home the kittens, Fielton wasted little time in tugging his wife down for a long, enthusiastic kiss.
Badia laughed and pulled away, slipping off his lap and holding out her hand. "I think I'd like to reward you for your gift by starting in the bathing chamber..." She'd always wondered what it would be like to join him in the bath--she figured it was high time she found out!
