"Grelic, you may sit with your friends at morning meal, but you better be behaved. Understand?" Parale's eye fastened on the newest member of her brood. He was from Amber Hills Hold and apparently needed some manners. When the youth answered in the affirmative, Parale let him go before heading to fill her plate.
She took her place in the serving line, noticing a familiar head in front of her. "Morning, Penryn. Hope there aren't any impending disasters today aye?" The edge of her lip curled at the sight of the Steward. He was three turns older than Parale, but they'd both grown up in the Hold and childish antics were hard to forget, even as grown adults.
"None that I've heard of, but the day is still young," the Steward smiled. "Where is your brood?"
"Hither, thither, and yon I'm sure. Grelic's sitting with his friends. The rest should be getting their plates." She shot a glance at the two others that were nearby and indeed grabbing food. "Greedy mouths will mean sore bottoms later." Frowning, she caught their eyes and immediately they slowed down, refusing to put more on their plates.
"By your hand or the cook's cooking?" Penryn asked with an amused smile.
"One can never tell." She chuckled before she grabbed a roll for her plate. "So..have you had dealings with the weaver..?" She thought to ask before she shared her encounter with the man, odd as it had been.
"Which particular weaver would you be referring to?" He had had extensive contact with the tailor under Thalia's attentive eye.
Pulling up her memory, she realized she'd never gotten the man's name. "Brown hair, brown eyes..young man.." Parale frowned as she tried to bring him into her memory again.
"Well, that narrows it down to... about a quarter of the weavers," Penryn chuckled. "What is his specialty?"
She didn't know for sure, but the man had wanted her berries. Only a weaver who worked with dye would have been up there, wanting them. "I think dyes?"
The Hold didn't specialize in cloth perse, so that specialization was rather rare. "Journeyman Tanas then?"
"Well I don't know. I never got his name, but I'd know him if I saw him again. He did have journeyman knots on." It was times like these Parale wished she could draw. "Anyway, he was going to take my berries. Can you imagine?"
"Your _berries_?" the Steward asked, confused as to what that had to do with the weaver.
"Indeed." She half-snorted before she caught herself. "Here I was, picking my berries. Then this weaver comes up there and says to give them to him since he needs them for his craft. As if he's too self important to pick his *own* berries." Parale had worked hard for all of her life and she didn't value shirking.
"I hope you dumped your basket over his head," Penryn said with a smirk.
"I came close, but I have to set an example for the children. I said something or other about Holder's rights, then told him I'd take it up with Lord Ishek if he didn't leave off." That name had certainly scared the fellow. Bringing herself back to the present, she grabbed some fingerroots.
"He certainly should have known better," the Steward agreed. "If you'd like I can have a chat with him."
"We're still not sure we have the right man, though right? And anyway, it's not that big of a deal. If I see him again, though, I'll be sure to get his name." She shrugged, then caught Grelic making faces. "Excuse me, Penryn, but I need to box some ears. Good day to you!" She smiled, then frowned as she headed off in the boy's direction.
