Fielton

Fielton

Fielton stormed through the hallways to his office with enough force that one apprentice actually leapt out of his way to avoid him. When he finally reached his office door, however, he hesitated before backtracking a few steps and knocking sharply on Daigoro's door. Before he hid from his infuriated wife, he might as well find out if she actually had a real reason to _be_ infuriated.

"Come on in," Daigoro called as continued to search under his desk for that pesky hide that had gone astray.

"Do you have a few moments?" Fielton asked as soon as he'd closed the door. He didn't wait for an invitation, sinking into one of the chairs in front of Daigoro's desk. "I've heard some gossip I'm concerned about."

At the sound of Fielton's voice the Hallsecond sat up immediately, quite forgetting the hard underside of the desk until his head had slammed into it. He cursed silently and rubbed at his skull as he emerged from under the desk. "Good afternoon, Fielton. What rumors would that be?"

Fielton studied Daigoro. "Have you heard anything about the... situation...
with Miryene?"

"Um, the situation? I had heard rumors, but I am not so sure there is a real _situation_..." Daigoro replied innocently. The brewer was pretty sure he knew what rumors the Hallmaster was referring to. He did not want to reveal all that he and Cinale had talked about, at least not until after he had a chance to talk to the woman. Daigoro had been contemplating just _how_ to talk to Miryene about it the past couple days. It had been hard for him. The Hallsecond had always been fond of Miryene and found it hard to accuse her of anything, especially adultery.

Mildly surprised to hear Daigoro sound so unconcerned about the possibility of Miryene being in danger, Fielton frowned. "Well, if the rumors have any truth at all, then there is _indeed_ a situation."

The only danger Daigoro was aware of was the damage her reputation could suffer. He shrugged nonchalantly. "Well, you know how rumors are, Fielton.
I'm sure there is a perfectly rational explanation for everything, if indeed there is anything to explain at all."

"Still, it's something we need to look into," Fielton replied, a little uncomfortably. "I don't know Miryene as well as you do... and I don't know how comfortable she feels with me after that... incident with her wedding. Could you speak to her about it?"

"Sure," Daigoro replied with a carefree smile, though inside he knew that he would rather spend a seven-day hunting for pet felines for Badia than ask his friend if she was being unfaithful in her marriage with that sharding Journeyman Jio. However, after his conversation with Cinale that was exactly what he had been trying to put off doing. Now it sounded like it could not be put off any longer. "In fact I can do it this afternoon. Although I must say, I never took you as one to put stock in rumors."

Fielton shrugged one shoulder. "It's different when they're this serious, Daigoro. You should know that. Just look into it for me."

"Oh, but is it really _that_ serious?" Daigoro asked with what he hoped was an unworried chuckle. "I mean, knowing the people involved, I would say it is all just a minor misunderstanding that will be cleared up pretty quickly." And if Daigoro ever got a moment alone with Jio...

"Well, I certainly hope that's true," Fielton said with some force. "Hopefully we can put this all behind us as a misunderstanding... But if it's not, we'll deal with it."

"Yes, yes, of course _if_ it were true we'd deal with it." Daigoro replied with a wave of his hand. **But just what do you intend to do, make her marry Jio too?!**

Oblivious to the fact that they'd just had two entirely different conversations, Fielton rose to his feet. "Good. I'll talk to you this evening, then."

"Yes, just leave it all to me, Fielton." Daigoro said with a big smile as he too rose to his feet. "You will see this has all been a minor misunderstanding that will soon be forgotten."
