Karaya had been restricted to her weyr. The healers had begun to worry as she had gained wait. Her stomach already looked ready to pop and she was having some trouble getting around. She depended on the candidates and weyr brats to wash Rayeth, since she couldn't effectively wash her herself. She felt slightly useless as she tried to move about her weyr. She had all the babies things ready and found that her place was as clean as it was going to be.
With a sigh she went out to Rayeth's couch to comfort her green. Ray did not like being left out of the fall.
**It Is almost through love. Soon our men will return to us.** She sat and leaned against her green. She winced as a small ripple of pain contracted her abdomen. She had had false labor pains before and merely sat through it. She fell asleep for about a candle mark as she sat with her lifemate.
She hadn't realized she had fallen asleep till she awoke with another pain.
She struggled to her feet and started for her door. She made it only about two steps before she was hit by another pain. She fell to her knees and grimaced. **It's to early?!**
}: Karaya are you alright?:{
**I...** She tried to answer but the pain came again.
}:Karaya should I call for help?:{ Her green was getting worried. Her agitation grew when her rider did not answer. }:Karaya is hurting and in trouble.:{ was her broadcast.
Visigoth had landed and was ready for a bath when he heard Rayeth's calls.
}:I will send Ch'vias with a healer.:{ he told her soothingly. It was a good thing that they had flown the first half of threadfall.
If the young green had been able to, she would have squeezed into the living area of the weyr. She was very agitated. Karaya was having trouble talking to her and she didn't understand the pain her lifemate was in.
Karaya had managed to get into a near fetal position on the floor in the weyr. She kept telling herself she needed to get up and get to the infirmary. She tried to work her way into a standing position, but only managed to get into a hands and knees position. She crawled toward where she knew her dragon was. She needed her dragon's comfort. She crawled in and Rayeth curled about her as she sat on the floor.
}:She is with me and in much pain:{ Rayeth informed Visigoth.
}:We are coming. A healer should be there soon.:{ Visigoth replied as he winged his way towards the weyr that they shared.
Ch'lvias had gotten a hold of one of the healers and then they rushed to his weyr as the blue had forgotten to wait for them in his rush to be with his mate.
Karaya glanced up when she heard someone enter her quarters. She groaned a bit. "In here, I'm in here." She was scared. She wasn't sure what was happening. It was to early wasn't it?
"Karaya, what happened?" Ch'lvias said as he knelt beside her giving the healer as much room as possible without leaving her side. He feared for the baby and for his mate.
"I'm not sure. It feels like all the muscles in my stomach are rebelling.
It hurts more than the healers said it would. I couldn't make it to the Healers, I tried. It's to soon." Her young eyes were bright with worry. It was her first time and already she was afraid she had done something wrong.
Just then a contraction hit. Her abdomen visible contracted.
"What do we need to do?" he asked looking to the healer for guidance. He had never witnessed a birth before and it looked as if he was going to get to help deliver his child.
"We will need to get her comfortable. We need as many blankets as you n find. It looks like we are going to have to do this here. We need hot water and clean cloth." The healer looked at the nervous couple. "We can do this.
you just need to stay calm."
Karaya nodded and glanced at her weyrmate, "WE will be alright." She grimaced as another contraction ripped through her.
"We will." he agreed and hurried off to find the needed supplies. He asked to first drudge he saw to bring the cloths and hot water. Then he gathered all the blankets that they had in their weyr and brought them to the healer.
"Alright, use the blankets to prop her up. We will cover her with one. " He set too taking care of her and before long the other supplies showed up.
Then the real work set in.
******
It seemed ages before the whole weyr was filled with the sound of a baby's cry. A tiny baby boy lay in Ch'lvias's arms. Karaya was still struggling as she lay on the blankets. The healer was worried. With the child born this should have been over. Suddenly he saw something he had not expected and set to work delivering another into the world.
Ch'lvias held the baby gently. He was so tiny and fragile looking that the new father didn't want to hurt the little one. "He's so small, Karaya." he said taking a moment to glance up from his son to his mate. She looked like she was still in pain and he knew enough to know the pain stopped when the baby was born. Glancing at the healer, he realized that the man was holding another baby.
"Two babies?" he said amazed that they could create not just one life but two.
Karaya lay there tired and spent. She smiled at her mate as she, thought of an earlier conversation were they had chosen names. The healer gently laid the small babe in her arms and she knew all was well again. She loved them both from the moment she saw them. "It looks like we have two to love. It is fortunate that we had two names to give."
"She's pretty, just like her mama." Ch'lvias said as he brought Krayios over to meet his twin sister, Rayvia. She was just as tiny and delicate looking as her brother was. Neither of them seemed to have any problems other than being so tiny. He gently placed their son in his mother's arms so that he could feed. "They are perfect, my love." She smiled.
