She Loves Attention

Writers: April, Paula
Date Posted: 19th October 2009

Characters: M'yex, Im're
Description: Imarre meets M'yex while M'yex is bathing and oiling Enyth and gets to help.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 4 of Turn 5

M'yex stood alone by the weyr lake. His lovely Enyth was in the lake rinsing herself. M'yex smiled at the green. He stood shirtless from having just washed his dragon.

Imarre had used his free time to wander down to weyrlake to watch dragons. It was facinating, and even more exciting was thought that soon he might be there, washing his own dragon.

M'yex ran his hand through his hair as Enyth emerged. She glistened as she stretched her wings. }:We are watched:{

M'yex glanced over his shoulder. He smiled at the candidate. "Enyth says Hello."

"Eh, Hello to her too," Imarre replied, he was still unsure how to address a dragon. Directly or through the rider?

M'yex smiled. Enyth looked closer at Imarre. She blinked a swirling blue and green eye at him. M'yex chuckled. "She says you may speak to her. Most dragons don't mind being spoken to. Of course, they usually answer through their riders."

"I'm new at the weyr," Imarre said in some sort of explanation. "Pleased to meet you, Enyth."

"No worries. I've been there too. It can be a bit overwhelming at first." M'yex smiled. "would you like to help me oil her?"

"Could I? That would be great!" Imarre said with euthiasm.

M'yex smiled. "She won't admit it, but, she loves all the attention." He handed over an oiling rag and grabbed his spare. He had found that many of the candidates loved ta chance to help.

"Who doesn't," Imarre smiled. Maybe helping around other dragons would help him Impress. At least it made him more used to them and he learned a bit of their care. "They take surprisingly lot of time and care, " he noted when he spread the oil to the dragon's hide.

"Yes, but you will find each moment worth it. The time you spend caring for them can be relaxing and calming. They become a part of you. I can't imagine not being with my sweet Enyth. And when you are up there, flying. It's a freedom you can't imagine. It's just you and a glorious dragon. And when you feel that freedom of flying with your dragon you come to realize it is all worth the candlemarks you spent caring for them." He smiled. Yes it was all worth it.

"Now I can't hardly wait to have dragon of my own," Imarre said and laughed.

M'yex smiled and laughed with him. "And when you are up to your elbows in raw meat, you're tired, your fingers ache, and your wondrous dragonette is asking questions you can't quite answer, You'll remember that it is all worth it. That he or she is worth it."

Imarre just nodded happily.
