Checking Up On The Weyrlings

Description: J'ren asks about some of the Weyrlings in the current class.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 7, day 22 of Turn 5

"Hello Esylian." J'ren had been hoping to catch R'syl, but it seems he missed the other bronzerider. That was all right, there was, at least, another staff member there. J'ren gave the greenrider a smile. "How goes it?"

Esylian looked up from some hides she was going over and smiled. "Good so far. What can I do for you?"

"Oh, I was just checking in regarding the Weyrlings." Normally he'd converse with R'syl, but in the long run it didn't really matter. "How goes the training?"

She smiled, "Pretty well I think. There are the usual few that seem to need extra care. There are a few that look to be good leaders. I think G'mor might make a good group leader." She glanced at her hides and nodded.

"The ones who need extra care, are they holdbred?" Or craftbred. Both of those tended to need more time to adjust to things, sometimes even after graduation.

"A few." She sighed. It was always the same. "Then there are the few that youth is the problem. Some are still a bit young and seem to be a bit overwhelmed." She let out a dry chuckle. "All the usual problems with weyrlings."

"How many will be old enough to fight once graduated?" It would be good to know. While things could happen during Weyrlinghood, J'ren could get an approximation of how many would be added to the wing.

"Over two thirds. So i believe we should be alright. But, I would ask the weyrling master before I'd go with my estimation. For all I know I am over estimating." she smiled. She always wanted to think the best possible outcome first.

J'ren nodded slowly. "You're probably close enough." After all, she worked with them and while age didn't normally come into play until closer to graduation, she'd have an idea at least. "Good number to add to our skies." As long as they didn't lose too many. "Well, I shouldn't keep you."

"Oh, it's no trouble at all. Would you like me to leave a message for the weyrling master? I could tell him you stopped by and wanted to check on the weyrlings. I don't mind." She offered him a big smile.

"You can if you like, but I can always catch up to him later." J'ren gave Esylian an easy smile. "And you pretty much gave me the information I wanted."

"No problem. More than happy to help. Anything else I can help you with?" She returned the smile.

"That's it." J'ren straightened and crossed the room to the door. "I'm sure I will see you around."

"not a problem." She smiled as she turned back to the hides she had been working on. She had to think of a better way to deal with one of the new weyrlings. He wasn't taking well to training.
