Description: The two go out on sweeps and the dragons chat.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 20 of Turn 5
Reporting for sweeps, E'rae and Leith waited near the edge of the cliff.
The blue was ready for the flight, excited to be outside and for the
opportunity to chat with the greens. Sitting atop his dragon, he waited
to see when everyone else was there.
"A little eager, aren't you, E'rae?" Honalyse asked as she walked up to
the green that had been chatting away with her lifemate.
"Hm? Well it's a nice day. If I can't be playing in it, I don't mind
flying in it. Sweepriding in high winds or worse are no fun." He
reached a hand around to scratch his elbow. "You going then?"
}:Oh Tibith, my dear... a fine lovely hide you have..:{ Leith's mental
voice would have been singsong if he had a concept of rhythm.
The green dipped her head demurely, her eyes whirling with pleasure.
Honalyse could feel her lifemate's sudden delight and she looked at
E'rae suspiciously. "Is your blue flirting with my green?"
}:He's very handsome, don't you think?:{ Tibith said with a slight hum,
almost like a purr.
"Probably. He's shameless." At this point, he was quite used to his
blue's behavior. Knowing he wouldn't have a chance at curbing it, he
just let it run its course.
}:You fly with us today then?:{ Wondering if she spoke, Leith
determined to try harder.
"You better warn him. She's a terrible tease," Honalyse sighed, giving
her green a loving pat.
}:If you can keep up with me you will,:{ the green replied with a bit of
challenge in her tone.
"He's a big boy." E'rae grinned, looking down at the blue underneath
him. Leith was completely in his element and that didn't escape his
rider.
}:I will for I am a green catcher.:{ Sniffing around himself, he noticed
they were getting ready to go. }:We fly now:{
Tibith lifted her head with haughty grace. }:I choose who catches me,
Leith.:{
Honalyse vaulted onto her neck and settled herself between the ridges.
Fastening the riding straps she looked over at the blue's rider. "Am I
following you, or are you following me?"
"Side by side. We're west. They're taking east. And then we all meet
back up in the middle over the Hold." Eager to survey the animals they
might spot roaming, E'rae could smell the sunlight almost.
}:Aye of course. I must teach you why I am best:{ He opened his wings
and began to downstroke. Launching, he pushed hard to gain altitude,
before hovering. They had to //between// first, then fly straight for
sweep.
Even though the blue had taken off first, it was easy for Tibith to
catch up to him. Too easy. }:When do you plan on doing that?:{
}:I shall await your call of course. We are on sweeps now so I can't
chase:{ He disappeared //between// then, with the image from E'rae,
coming out above a grove of redfruit trees.
The green and her rider weren't far behind. "A little warning next time
might be helpful!" Honalyse called out to him as they came up alongside
his wingtip.
}:I might forget to look for you, you know.:{ Her rider always said she
was a very forgetful green.
}:I shall not allow that to happen:{ He hoped that was his best
flattering thought.
"Ah you have to //between// skip in threadfall so that was nothing." A
former holder, he was forever thankful for the advantages flight gave
him over overland travel. "Allright, let's fly over, heading in that
direction. On the lookout for signal flags or other disturbances."
"We're not in Threadfall, wherrybrain," the greenrider muttered into the
wind, knowing full well he couldn't hear her. Why did men find it so
hard to be courteous?
}:Mine thinks yours is rude,:{ Tibith announced, though her rider was
too lost in her own brooding thoughts to pay attention to her lifemate's
conversation.
}:Mine isn't rude:{ Leith sounded confused. He would never think of his
rider that way. Flying at a normal speed, he stayed above the treetops
as E'rae tried his best to scan the countryside.
}:Why don't you like Leith's rider?:{ Tibith asked Honalyse, helpfully
trying to clear up the confusion.
**Well, he gave no warning at all! A signal might have been nice. Or a
quick 'We're going now' passed between you and Leith. Men just assume
you know what they'r thinking. 'Oh, but I thought you _knew_ I had a
weyrmate... I thought you _knew_ I just wanted to screw you and leave
to go back to her...'** That one was still fresh and hurting. **Men are
wherry asses. All of them.**
**Mine says yours is a wherry ass and he would just screw her and leave
her,:{ Tibith relayed to Leith in order to explain her rider's feelings.
}:What is screwing?:{ E'rae never used that word so Leith didn't
understand the term.
Tibith wasn't quite sure herself what it meant, so she asked her rider.
**It means sticking his little tunnel snake into anything he feels like
and then discarding you like a piece of used up hide,** Honalyse replied
bitterly.
}:Screwing is putting a tunnel snake somewhere and then throwing away a
hide,:{ the green explained authoritatively.
}:Mine kills tunnelsnakes so he wouldn't be putting any anywhere.:{
Leith replied back, matter-of-factly. }:Does yours need him to kill
some?:{
}:Do you need help killing the tunnel snakes?:{ the green posed to her
rider.
**No,** Honalyse snorted. **No, I don't want to kill the tunnel snake.
I want to kill the wherries they're attached to!**
}:Mine wants to kill wherries, not tunnel snakes. Does your rider kill
wherries?:{ Tibith suggested instead.
}:Oh sure. Or I could eat them:{ Leith offered helpfully.
The green was a little offended that Leith would try to eat her rider's
wherries! }:Mine likes eating wherry.:{
}:Mine says it's good roasted.:{ The blue preferred raw, but he wouldn't
argue. }:A nice, juicy herdbeast is better than stupid wherry any day:{
Tibith again felt a little slighted. }:Wherry is not stupid. Mine
likes wherry.:{ The green preferred herdbeast herself, but she would
not listen to any dragon saying something her rider seemed to like so
much was stupid! If Honalyse liked it, then it must be very good
indeed!
}:Wherries are stupid things. Have you never seen one?:{ Leith sent her
a quick image of the ungainly, ugly avians.
The green was not impressed. }:Honalyse likes them. They are not
stupid,:{ she reiterated, deciding he wasn't nearly as handsome, as
she had originally thought.
At that, Leith wrote the green off as one of those silly ones who didn't
know her hindquarters from her head. Focusing on business, he spotted
a banner. }:Mine-flag up:{
E'rae saw it then though Leith's eyes and nodded. **Let's go down and
see what's going on.**
}:We're going down. Flag up:{ He dutifully reported to Tibith, his tone
no longer joking.
