It was like being hit by a boulder, but exhilarating at the same time.
E'rae always felt so tired after a flight, but satisfied that he had
caught when Leith managed it. The blue had outdone himself this time and
now both he and his rider were reaping the benefits.

Rolling over, E'rae displaced some of the furs as he wondered who it
was in the dark next to him. The glows were all turned and he couldn't
see anything. He could feel nice flesh, though.

Honalyse groaned as she flopped an arm over his middle. "Shards, that
must have been fun," she mumbled, not really caring who had won the
Flight. He was male, and he was warm, and that's all that mattered
right now.

"Pretty sure it was..though I'm going to hurt for the rest of the day."
He did a quick check to make sure the bruises and cuts weren't anything
serious. Satisfied, he rubbed the flesh he'd managed to get a hold of
earlier.

Well, this was certainly promising, Honalyse thought as she rolled him
onto his back and slid over him. "I bet I know how to take the hurt
away..."

"Ah well, be my guest." He groaned at the movement and buried his head
in the pillows.

The greenrider grinned as she set to work, using tricks she had picked
up from Flights past, and just from her extensive experience with men.
She thought she had done a masterful job at proving herself a most
talented partner when she finally flopped back into the furs with a
pleased sigh. Too bad that old bronzerider couldn't have seen _that_
she thought triumphantly, knowing she would have impressed even
Wingleader U'das to admit he had been wrong to doubt her skills!

He made another noise that sounded like a pleased growl. E'rae didn't
want to move. He felt her move away from him, though, and he didn't like
that. Grabbing her, he scooted her up next to him, enjoying the warmth.
He was an after-Flight cuddler, for sure.

Honalyse delighted in that fact. She was an any-time cuddler, and the
fact that he seemed so interested in her made her bold to think that
there was a true interest forming. "Are you getting hungry?" she asked,
settling back into him.

"Too sore to think about that yet." He closed his eyes in the darkness
and was content enough to let his hand roam under the furs. He could
appreciate a good female body from time to time. "Let's play find the
finger..."

She had a pretty good idea where it was. Shards, he was so into her!
This was more than she could have hoped for! "I love that game," she
purred, feeling the muscles along his forearm. If he liked games, she
had learned several. "You're into games, then?"

"Into anything that keeps my mind off the fact that I have to get up
in the morning." He was probably going to be hungry before too long,
but he could put that out of mind for the moment.

"What about toys? I have some toys in my room. Do you want me to go
get some?" she offered, wanting nothing more than to keep his positive
attention fixed on her.

"Mmm no...stay." Lazily, he explored her until he was finished. After a
flight, the bluerider was still caught up in the nice feelings it
caused, leaving him in a lusty haze. "You smell nice," he said softly.

"I was eating a citrus fruit when Tibith rose," Honalyse murmured,
wondering if he was hungry now. "Do you want one? I can go get you
one..."

"Faranth yes, that'd be wonderful..." Rolling over to allow her to move,
he stretched out and made sure his limbs worked.

"Do you want anything else? Are you thirsty?" She started gathering up
her things.

He licked his lips together slowly. "Water..." He was a bit disgruntled
to find her gone, though. Then he remembered she was going to get food.

"All right," she grinned, slipping her tunic over her head. "Don't go
anywhere! I'll be right back."

Her warm body gone, his mind was once again reminded of the myriad
hurts. He recalled rolling off the bed and hitting the floor at some
point. "My bones...ah shells..."

Honalyse, however, felt perfectly fine! Oh, perhaps a little ache here
or there, but what did it matter? A man was waiting for her, and he
really liked her! Not like one of those other boys who would screw her
and run off to be with someone else, or who would have their way and
then slink off with barely a goodbye. No, E'rae seemed to not be able
to get enough of her, and she was beaming with feminine pride! Who knew
the bluerider would be the one, she thought with an amused smile as she
opened the door with one hand and balanced the tray with the other.
"I'm back!"

He had managed to turn over and was now on his back. She'd turned over
the glows so he could see her. "And you bring gifts, aye?" He was
starting to become his normal self again.

She quickly nodded, presenting him the tray. "Citrus fruit, and water.
But then I also thought you might want more, so I brought some herdbeast
and some tubers, and a few rolls. If you want more, though, I can get
you more. And a skin of wine too, in case you were in the mood for some
extra refreshment." To set the mood, of course.

Well she was smart. "Thanks.." Balancing the tray on his lap, he began
to tear into the goodies. "You want some?"

"Take as much as you like," she assured him. He seemed hungry.
Honalyse could feel a twinge of hunger herself, but she was far more
worried that she had not brought enough to satisfy him, and more than
anything she wanted to keep him satisfied. "I didn't bring anything
sweet. I hope that's all right."

"This is fine." It didn't take long for him to eat his fill and then he
simply lay back on the furs. Things were a mess and in the light it was
easy to see where she'd scratched, bit, and bruised.

She crawled up onto the bed beside him, laying her head down on his
chest with a content sigh. "I really didn't expect it would be you,
E'rae. But shards, I'm happy it was."

"Oh? Last time we were on sweeps I recall being your least favorite
person." He almost laughed remembering that day.

Well yes, but she hadn't slept with him yet. Or discovered that despite
his disagreeable temperament at times, he might actually be perfect for
her! "Isn't that how so many of these things start? A man and a woman
don't seem to get along and then, poof, something happens and they
realize how right for each other they could be if they gave it a
chance..."

"Actually not really. Most of the time before people become mated,
they're friends first. My parents were." He bit off a biscuit
absentmindedly.

"Well not where I grew up, but that's besides the point," she said, half
afraid that contradicting him might spoil the good mood. "But that's
how it's working for us, at any rate, and for what it's worth, I'm glad
it's happened this way."

"Umm what's happened?" He threw up an eyebrow, thinking this was
going somewhere he might not want to end up.

"Oh, well, you know, this. _Us_," she said, turning her head to begin a
trail of kisses along his collar bone.

"Right..your dragon flew, my dragon caught, and now we're eating."
A look of confusion crossed his face.

"Well, not _just_ eating." Honalyse let a finger trail down his stomach
as a reminder of their earlier fun. "We were playing games too..."

"Well aye..dragons just having mated and all that, puts me in a frisky
mood." She was just stating the obvious.

"Me too, obviously," she smiled, letting her fingers remind him how
frisky she could be. "But this is just the start. We could get frisky
any time we wanted. We don't need to wait for our dragons anymore."

Looking at her, it began to dawn on him just what she was saying.
"Hold on a moment. Let me see if I understand this.. You think that
just because I won the flight that now I am going to be your mate?"

The way he said it just then made it sound so ridiculous. Like she had
been a sharding simpleton for even _thinking_ that was what had been
happening between them. "Nooooooooooo," she said with a nervous laugh,
slapping at his chest like he had just made the funniest joke. "Why
would I think that? I mean... It's just a _Flight_, right?"

He watched her and he saw it in her face. He didn't want to hurt her
feelings. "Honalyse, I like...guys mostly." Sure he was with an
occasional woman, but he preferred to be around men more often.

"Hahaha," she laughed, still trying to make it seem like it was all just
his teasing and trying to cover the fact that her heart was suddenly
aching more than her body would in the morning. "I guess _that's_ why
you're a bluerider, huh?"

"Probably some part of it. Look, you seem really nice...but word to the
wise, don't say those sort of things next time. Men..we get scared by
those things." He hated it, but it needed to be done. He had to save her
from herself.

"Oh, well, not if it's all in good fun," she said, poking him in the
stomach. "Fooled you, didn't I?"

He sighed. "It's like fishing. You have to play hard to get." She really
needed to take lessons from R'sedel. He probably knew more about this.

"Oh, well, thanks for the advice," she chuckled, pushing herself back
off the bed. "And now, my stomach is growling, and shards, it looks
like you practically picked that plate clean! I think I'll go play hard
to get in the dining hall and get something to eat. But that's a good
one," she wagged her finger like at a naughty boy. "I'll just go eat
something, and maybe I'll see you in drill some time, eh?"

"Sure. Have a nice day?" He sat there, wondering where his boots were.

"And you too," the greenrider said with a quick wave, hurrying out the
door before the bluerider could see the tears already forming in her
eyes. Closing the door behind her she leaned back against it, closing
her lids as little droplets escaped out the sides. **I thought he
really liked me...** Shards what a fool she had been.

Again.
