Description: U'das has one of his chats with Honalyse.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 13 of Turn 5

"Aw, do you have to go?" U'das asked from the greenrider, whose arms
were wrapped around his neck. His own arms were around her slender
waist.

"I had to. The children's fostermother is sick. I would have loved to
spent the night with you," she replied with regretful tone.

"Some other time then, with better luck," U'das replied and let go of
her.

"Later, bronze-stallion" she agreed, gave him fond kiss and caress to
his bald scalp before leaving.

"'There goes the company for the night," U'das sighed when he followed
he swinging hips distance from him. He seem to have a string of bad luck
lately when it came to women. Well, there was always R'sedel, U'das
snorted to himself. No, he wasn't that desperate yet.

Honalyse smirked as she saw the Wingleader being left by his chosen
company for the evening, though she had not heard what has passed
between them. She just saw the woman give him a consolatory pack to the
head. **Not as sought after as you think you are,** she thought,
plunking herself down at a table to wait for her own company to find
her.

U'das looked around him and spotted Honalyse. Well, she was always fun
to talk with. Their verbal sparring was good way to cheer up. So he
sauntered to the greenrider. "Hello again, Honalyse."

"Oh, hello Wingleader." The look she gave him was one of confusion. "I
thought you had found yourself some company for the evening! How is it
that you find yourself alone?"

"Her children's fostermother became sick, so she have to leave to be
with the children. The eternal problem with women who have children. The
children take precedence," U'das sighed.

"Yeah, that's one brush-off technique I've just not been able to pull
off," she said with her own sigh, followed by a look of horror. "Not
imply _she_ was brushing you off, in any way, of course. I'm _sure_ her
kids really are sick."

"The fostermother," U'das corrected her almost absently. "The kids are
fine, just too small to be left alone."

"Oh, I see." The smile she gave him was almost pitiable, as if to say
**You poor naive man.**

"You want me to tell the names of those children?" U'das asked, flashing
a smile and indicating how well he knew her.

"Why would I be interested in children?" she asked, rather amused at how
hard he was trying. "Do you seriously believe that just because a woman
has children in her weyr that means she can't have sex with you? They
sleep, you know."

"Not always. I think you have to have children to truly understand,"
U'das said.

"I understand that couples find ways. Otherwise, how would the Holds be
so populated?" she asked innocently.

"Couples yes, random bedmates..." he just shrugged.

"I've always heard 'where there's a will, there's a way'. Maybe the
will just wasn't there."

"And maybe you just have to learn when to drop it and not push the
matter," U'das replied and cocked his head curiously. She seemed like
pushy type.
"Too much will and you drive them away."

Suddenly she felt like he was turning it around to _her_! "If you show
no will, they'll think you're not interested. That will also push
someone away."

"I said _ too much_ will. I guess you just need experience to tell you
what and when," U'das said.

"As I have told you before, bronzerider, I have _plenty_ of experience.
Thank you."

"Of relationships between people or just about sex?" U'das asked very
bluntly.

"Aren't we talking about sex? I thought that was topic. Or more
exactly, the fact that you are getting none this evening." She really
would rather not talk about her experiences with relationships.

"Me getting none is not your problem, dear Honalyse. Unless of course,
if you want to help me with my dilemma," the bronzerider's eyes twinkled
merrily.

"I'm pretty sure my foster mother caught whatever her foster mother
caught," she replied sweetly.

"You still need a fostermother?" U'das asked jokingly.

And there he went, calling her a child again. In her mind, she was
anything but. Somehow that bronzerider could make her feel so small.
She tried to keep her smile in place as she pushed herself away from the
table. "No. But I think it's past my bedtime."

"Too bad, you have no idea what you miss," U'das said regretfully.

Sharding bastard. "Once you've seen one arrogant bronzerider, you've
seen them all. I'm not missing much. Good night."

"Good night, Honalyse," U'das replied.
