E'rae bent down and began to stretch. As a rider, it was important to
keep in shape. He planned to run a bit around the Weyr. It would have
been nice to have someone to pace against every now and again.
K'mai spotted the bluerider and stopped. "Are you showing off, or is
this for practical reasons?"
"Well, if I didn't..I wouldn't be able to keep my butt awake for a
full threadfall." E'rae rose up and saw the other rider. "How goes it?"
"Good." K'mai grinned. "How are you?"
"Okay...you don't run then?" He found it was an easy way to keep in shape.
"I try to avoid it if possible." Running was too much like work.
"Ah right well, I'm about to start soo.." He raised a brow, wondering if K'mai
could be goaded to pace him. "You don't think you could beat me then eh?"
He laughed. "No way. Not if this is part of your regular routine."
"Eh well it keeps my heart healthy." He started out walking, then eventually
it turned into a light jog, then a full blown run.
Several minutes passed, more than enough time for E'rae to think he'd
been left alone on his run. Then a blue dragon appeared beside him,
easily keeping pace. "Definitely faster than me," K'mai called from
the dragon's neck.
"Cheater!" He laughed though as he kept on.
}:You'd never beat me:{
**I know. I would never try**
"It's not cheating if I don't intend to compete." K'mai enjoyed the
looks they were getting from other people in the area.
"So how do you keep in shape then?" E'rae was pacing himself, knowing how
far he wanted to run and just how quick he wanted to do it.
"Washing Sebeth and just doing my duties seems to keep me in good
shape. I go swimming, but that's for fun," K'mai told the other rider.
"And sex is a good workout."
"Ah well, enjoy that while it lasts." E'rae almost half laughed.
Except for flights, he didn't really bother with it that much.
"Swimming is good, especially in the ocean."
"I like a nice calm lake too." K'mai could hear Sebeth making comments
to the other dragons and knew his blue was enjoying the attention.
It didn't take too long and E'rae was winding down. Coming to a slow cool
down walk, he finished and then began his last stretches. "Yeah..I'd rather fish
if I were on a lake, though swimming is okay too. Ever canoe?"
"A few times." K'mai slid off his dragon's neck so they could talk more easily.
"Yeah canoeing can be relaxing sometimes." E'rae went through his stretches,
counting in his head. Then he grabbed his waterskin and began to drink.
"Is that what you like to do? Canoeing and running?"
"I like a little bit of everything. Hunting, canoeing, fishing,
running, hiking.. Nice to go out and see the ocean too." Leith could
be talked into almost anything.
"And your scavenging, of course," K'mai smiled.
"Of course." E'rae smiled. "Every now and again I find some of the
ancients stuff. Very fun." Most of the older stakeholds had been
resettled already, but there were some that hadn't.
Sebeth had settled down on his haunches and was dozing. K'mai leaned
against the blue. "Any lost treasure?"
"I'm pretty sure if there is any, it'll be under the sea. Leith's not
a dolphin though, so I can forget that. The Records say there was a
lot of stuff lost in
the Crossing, right?"
"From what I hear." K'mai didn't pay that much attention to history,
especially that far back.
E'rae shrugged, scratching his head. "Better go in before I get a sunburn.
Want a drink?"
"Sure." K'mai gave his blue a pat and followed E'rae inside.
