He was in the exercise area, doing pullups when he heard footsteps behind him. P'nal didn't find working out hard, and it gave him a chance to relax and think. Finishing his set, he dropped down and wiped his face with a small towel.

Kenza had come in to work off some steam as well. When she saw P'nal, she moved in his direction.

"I heard you've been promoted to wingsecond. Congratulations." She was proud of her own role as wingthird and knew that it would be highly unlikely for her to ever rise higher than that, though in her mind she knew she could lead a wing just as well as any bronze.

"Thanks..." He opened his eyes and realized who it was. Grabbing his waterskin, he took a few drinks. "I didn't really think I'd get it, but G'nir picked me." There was a chance that there were a lot of angry
bronzeriders out there because of it.

"He picked you because you deserved it!" Kenza declared, dropping her things so she could stretch her own muscles a bit. "Some will say it should have gone to a bronze." She huffed a bit, "Like dragon color alone dictates who's capable and who's not!" She snorted, knowing just how magnificent her own Solith was. "Some of those bronzers think they own the Weyr," she shook her head as she rose from her stretch.

"Well that's the natural way of things. Either way, I'm glad I got it. I think it'll make it easier since the Weyrleader didn't seem to want another bronze under his boots." He wasn't exactly sure of G'nir yet, but
he was easygoing so he didn't think it'd matter.

"And they think we _greens_ get proddy!" Kenza chuckled. "I haven't worked with G'nir much. How do you think he will do as Weyrleader?" Kenza reached for one of the weights that she preferred, small but enough. She began to lift it with her left arm, until she'd completed one set.

"I think it depends on how much his Wingleaders will do for him." They would take care of their own, but it didn't mean that they would accept the Weyrleader completely. If his actions and attitude didn't match up, there could be problems. "We'll see. He seems very determined, though."

"That he does," Kenza replied. Only time would tell exactly how G'nir would lead the Weyr. She shifted her weight to her right arm. This time her movements were a bit slower and her arm did not raise as high as she had with her left. The scar tissue from her Threadscore limited certain movements for her. "We should get the two wings together for some training," she told P'nal as she did the exercises until her arm began to ache. There were times she longed for the days before her injury, when such tasks as lifting a simple weight would never have tired her so quickly. It was not something she showed or told to anyone. Masking the pain at times was just another of the tasks she did each and everyday of her life.

"Maybe. I'm trying to settle in now. I have to get to know everyone and figure out what I'm doing. Once I have my feet under me, I'll feel better." P'nal switched to the board and began to do his situps, silently counting.

"It does take time," she replied. "You know your wingmates differently as a wingrider than you will as a wingsecond. Before you only worried about where they were in comparison to you, and the maneuvers you'd practiced together. Now _you_ will be the one watching for holes and problems and having to find ways to correct them lest Thread fall through to the grounds below." It was not always an easy task, but Kenza enjoyed it immensely. She was good with spatial things and could see, almost instantly, where there might be a gap in the ranks and plot out ways to close it.

"Yeah it's different." He could already foresee problems with some of the bronzeriders, but he'd get past it. Once they realized he meant business, he was sure everything would settle down. G'nir would back him up. "What was the hardest part for you?"

"Besides getting some of the more haughty male riders to listen to me?" Kenza snorted a bit. "It was difficult learning everyone's strengths and weaknesses and planning aerial strategies that would play into everyone's strengths. I still have to watch for these things. Every time something happens to a dragon or rider, they change a bit in the skies. Now, though, my biggest struggle is not allowing us to become complacent. We must always find new ways to utilize our whole wing and flame the Thread before it reaches the ground."

"That's the same with everyone. If any rider got too comfortable..you lose your edge." He knew G'nir expected different things of him than a normal wingsecond so he couldn't focus on the same things that Kenza did. Still, he did want the wing to continue to perform very well. **Being safe and attentive saves lives**

"Exactly." Kenza replied. "If you ever need any help or suggestions, you know where to find me." Kenza gathered up her things, preparing to head to the waters to bathe before returning to her duties.
