"You asked to see me?" Thanja said as she put her head around the door of
the office space used by Eilomar.
"Yes, Thanja, I did. Please get in," The master singer invited the master
printer inside.
It was somewhat unusual for the Master Harper to request the presence of
the
Hallsecond, but it had happened, and Thanja took the seat. "What can I do
for you?"
"This is a personal reguest, not hall-business," Eilomar wanted to make
that
clear from the start.
"I see," Thanja was intrigued.
"My weddings are approaching and our list for invitations grew so long,
that
I thought about asking you to print them," Eilomar said. "Could you do
that?
Print my wedding invitations and send them out?"
"I can certainly have it done, and I'm sure we can round up enough people
to
distibute them," she said. "Have you and your bride a design in mind?"
"Umh, neither of us is very good at that kind of things. I barely passed
my
drawing classess as an apprentice," Eilomar said. "I was thinking
something
elegant, not too fancy but not too modest either," he continued.
"You'll probably need some one with calligraphy skills to address them for
you as well."
"I have to ask around to find one," Eilomar grunted. "So much to do," he
sighed.
"Have you got the wording? We have some sample designs that I can show you
that might give you some ideas."
"I think I have it somewhere here..." he rummaged through the hide-piles
in
his desk. Apprentice works mostly. He finally pulled a right one. "There,"
he gave it to Thanja. It was scetch for the invitation's text. He had
settled for the traditional wording.
"Now that I can work with. I can produce half a dozen samples and let you
choose."
"Thank you Thanja, I appreaciate your help," Eilomar said.
"No problem at all," she told the Master Harper.
"If someone had suggested a Turn ago that I will get remarried, I would
had
laughed it off. Life's funny that way sometimes," he shook his head in
disbelief.
"Maybe in another turn or so there'll be a little one as well."
"Merlish would want that," Eilomar said. He wasn't so sure about it.
"I hope you two will be very happy."
"So do I. I didn't do very good job with my first marriage," Eilomar said.
"I'm sure this one will be better."
"Thank you. You're a good friend, Thanja," Eilomar said and felt rather
odd
when he realized he really meant it. How had that happened? He had been so
against her at first, she was female, a printer and she had gotten the
position he had coveted.
"Just thank me by being very happy for many turns to come."
"I try," the fat singer was surprisingly serious about it.
"And I'll get those samples to you as soon as I can."
"It will big relief when those invitations are out," Eilomar said.
"I'm sure it will."
