The Hallsecond stood on the bench, as close to the wall as possible,
cringing with each loud yap. "Help! Help!" he all but squealed. Where
was the owner of this little monster!
"Vena, naughty girl, come here," Keayd called his canine and with eager
wuff, she hobbled over to him. He bent to scratch her and hid a smile.
Was the hallsecond afraid of small, three legged canine?
As the beast retreated to her master, Fayazel slowly uncurled himself
and stepped down off the bench, a wary eye on the fiend the whole time.
"You know, you really shouldn't let her loose in the Hall like that."
"I don't. She slipped away when I opened the door," Keayd said and
attached a leash to Vena's collar. "You won't believe three legged
canine being so fast."
"Oh, I believe," the Hallsecond assured him. He had seen just how fast
the little terror could move as she charged straight for him out of
nowhere! "Perhaps you should think of some manner training. For the
canine, I mean, of course. Not you."
"She is generally well mannered, just bit excitable," Keayd sounded
apologetic.
"Hmmm," Fayazel said with a snort, attempting a laugh but it still
sounded half hearted. Excitable was what he called it? "Still, she
shouldn't be running about. She might cause something, or someone, a
harm. And it doesn't look good when guests come. Of course I'm sure
this is an isolated incident."
"I know, hallsecond. It won't happen again," **I hope!** Keayd said with
consilitory voice.
"What's your name again?" Fayazel was having trouble remembering all
these new names!
"Journeyman Keayd, sir," Key replied.
"Ah yes. The distiller." At least he thought that was what he did.
"Well, that's part of the process," Key nodded.
"Is there another title you prefer, then?" the Hallsecond asked, not
sure if the journeyman was being technical or difficult.
"Senior journeyman would be great," Key said with a smile, knowing he
wasn't quite there yet.
The Hallsecond looked at the knots and his lips curled at the corners.
"Only senior journeyman? You really should think bigger, young man."
"Well, one step at the time," Keyad cocked his eye brows.
"If you're going to dream, dream big."
"Yes, sir," Key grinned.
