Description: Private dinner at D'ale's
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 3 of Turn 5
He'd picked up some fruit and cheese along with a small pot of stew
and some bubbly pies for dessert. They weren't quite the same now that
K'ales friend had Impressed but they were still warm from the ovens.
He opened the skin of wine and poured a couple of glasses then some
juice for Dalora.
She was happily playing with her two dragon toy 'friends' while he cut
up some of the fruit for her. He heard the knock on his door and wiped
the juice off his fingers on a towel as he crossed to open it.
"Hello!" he said with a wide smile.
Kenza hadn't been able to stay away. Not only had she wanted to see
D'ale again, she'd wanted to meet his new little darling. The one who
was monopolizing his time when he was not atop his dragon.
"I'm glad you invited me to join you tonight," she stated as she
entered, her fingers trailing along his chest. A smirk crept onto her
face as she felt his muscles quiver beneath her touch. Her attention,
however, was quickly diverted by the little sounds she heard. Kenza
paused and stared at the child. It had been so long since she'd had
such a young child of her own, and even then she had been more
involved in being a dragonrider than a mother. Thank the skies for
foster mothers.
"This must be Dalora. Hello Dalora," Kenza said, moving forward and
leaning down to greet the child. She winced when the little girl
looked up at her and made a startled sound. Kenza knew her appearance
could be difficult for some to take and children especially didn't
understand.
**Well she's in a good mood tonight** he thought and figured he could
take fine advantage if Dalora cooperated and went to bed early enough.
"I think I'll leave the care of children to you, D'ale," Kenza said
with a sigh as she watched the little child still eying her warily. "I
think I need a drink." Kenza turned away from Dalora and eyed the
glasses D'ale must have poured. She reached for one and took a drink.
"Just give her a little while Kenza." he said moving up behind her.
"She'll warm up." he put his arms around her sensing the hurt she must be
feeling. "She's had a bit of a rough go recently and is wary of
everyone. Honest." he said caressing the side of her face.
"We all know how that goes," she said, turning in his arms to face
him. Leaning up on her toes she brushed her lips against his. "I've
missed you lately," she whispered. It wasn't that she hadn't seen him,
it was just that their schedules had not allowed them the same amount
of alone time that they had been enjoying of late.
"We've both been busy." he said and reached around her for his own
glass."I think you work too hard." he added with a smile and a clink
against her glass before taking another sip.
"Tell U'kahiah that!" Kenza snorted. "It's a shame that a greenrider
cannot lead a wing! I could surely do it!" She joined him in drinking
from her glass.
"So, are you keeping Dalora with you now? Does she not have a foster
mother?" Kenza glanced back at the child. Even their own son had spent
most of his time living with a foster mother as soon as he was old
enough to be weaned. Sure they had had him with them at times, but not
all that much. They had both been busy. She couldn't see how D'ale
intended to spend so much time with this child and fight the menace of
Thread that fell from the sky.
"Oh she has a foster mother alright." he said "I'm just easing her
through the transition a little is all."
Dalora was a happy little girl and played contentedly most of the
time. Even if she did cling to him when other people were around, he
couldn't really say he didn't like it when she did. He chuckled as she
swooped 'Rath in her arms around the room. "Thought I would take her
down to see K'ale and Imalkyth sometime. See how she likes the little
brown dragonet. I mean, who knows she may end up a greenrider herself
some day.
Kenza gave him a half grin. "Nothing wrong with those ambitions,
that's for sure." She looked back at the little girl. What would it
have been like to spend so much time with her own children when they
had been young? Her head tilted to the side ever so slightly at the
thought, but she quickly shrugged it off.
"So, shall we dine or did you have other things in mind?" She asked,
turning back to him with a devious smile.
He grinned back at her. "Oh I fully intend on both." he said "With
your full cooperation with my nefarious plans of course."
"Sounds like tonight is going to be a _very_ good night," Kenza
replied before she leaned up and kissed his lips in anticipation.
