Preparations & Salutations

The steward sat in his office, waiting. He had his hides with him, prepared. There were a few arrangements to be made if the whole thing was going to go off without a hitch.

She waited until the green dragon really was down before unfastening the
straps. "Thanks Nytha, and please thank Tagerth for me, she's done a
fantastic job today." The Harper Hallsecond then dismounted and located a
passing drudge to direct her to the Steward's office.

When they reached the door, the drudge let her inside. Sarban stood up,
putting a hand out. "Good day, Thanja. Thank you for coming. Are you
hungry?"

"A snack wouldn't go amiss," she said with a smile.

Seeing the drudge's nod, he returned her smile and gestured to the chair.
"Please have a seat. The food and drink will be here momentarily. Will
you be staying for evening meal?"

"Unfortunately not. My husband will be waiting for me."

"Ah well, let's get down to business then while the food's coming so I don't keep you overly long." He took his own seat and turned to the hides. "So are you familiar with the overall plan as is or do you want me to go over it again?"

"If you wouldn't mind." While she had been briefed, it never hurt to hear
another point of view.

"Well, in the third month we are going to hold a gather. This will be the
celebration of Lord Corowal's birthingday, his anniversary, and the official opening of the Hall. Hopefully, your people will be settled in by then, but this is when we want to present everything to the public." He looked at her to see if she agreed.

She nodded. "We'll need to print up some flyers to distribute to outlying
holds then, to inform them of events."

"Here's the kicker...we want it to be a surprise. At least until it can't be anymore. Cause I don't want Corowal getting wind. Lady Felyna has already spoken with the Holders and we've spread the word to the Craftmasters so they can set up stalls." He looked at his list, trying to make sure he didn't miss anything.

"So forget the flyers, we'll need some discreet invitations then, and
programs as well for the formal part of events."

"Aye, and we hoped you all would organize the entertainment of course. And
with it being his birthingday and such..maybe a special song?" Sarban
thought Corowal would like that.

"You'll have to leave the musical part of things to the Hallmaster, or
perhaps Master Eilomar. My specialty is printing and illustration."

"Right, it's up to you harpers how you wanted to organize things, but
as a gift do you think maybe we could do a portrait of him?" Sarban knew
that Corowal didn't have a recent one.

"It is certainly possible. We have some very talented artists at the Hall."

"Lady Felyna was working with the invitations so she'll love to speak with
you about that before you go, but I just wanted to double check that we were on the same page. If you can share my thoughts with the Hallmaster and
I'll expect a yes or no at some point by flit or runner message." Corowal
would hear the drums and suspect something.

"I'm sure that we can organize that," Thanja told him. "The Hallmaster will
expect to hear about this sort of thing as soon as I get back."

"Well before I send you her way, was there anything you needed from us?
Have we gotten any farther on the moving plan?" He had thought they were
going to ask the Weyr to help, but most of the furniture and the like could
come by boat.

"We're trying to allocate accommodation to people so that we can work out
who gets to pack what."

He nodded. "Just keep us updated. That's all I have, though, if you don't
have anything to bring up."

"I have some preliminary designs for invitations here, if you'd care to
look?"

"Sure, though I'm sure she's better at that sort of thing." Sarban didn't
know about presentation, color, and type.

"I do need a check on the wording though," Thanja laid out several small
cards on the desk.

Taking one into his hands, the Steward read over the type. "This sounds
good. Of course we'll be providing housing for the other Lord Holders,
Masters, and such that might wish a place to stay." He kept scanning
over the lines. "And there will be a special feast on the second night to
correspond with the special entertainment in Corowal's honor."

Thanja noted those facts down. "We'll get that changed and some new
samples made up."

"Thanks," he gave them back to her.

"I'll have one sent to you. It might cause a few more questions than you
want if I visit again so soon."

"Sounds like a plan indeed. Feel free to eat what you want before seeing
Felyna." He knew that the Lady Holder would probably bring up women
things he didn't want to discuss so he was glad he could beg off that
meeting.

"Thank you for your time today."

"No, thank you for coming out."
