Description: Tavia visits Dolphin Hall
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 13, day 23 of Turn 5
Sawauth's wings swept the air as she steadily flew northwest. She'd
promised Ranari she'd make the visit to the Dolphins before she
decided what she was going to do. They didn't go /between/ and she was
finding it a little difficult to fully explain to Sawauth why they
needed to go visit the Dolphin craft hall without just going there
directly like they always did.
**Land here** she said looking down at the top of a cliff overlooking
the sea to watch the sun set. Looking out to sea like this always made
her wonder about what was about to happen and change her life now.
Watching the sky change colors made her own problems seem so small.
}:You are very important to me Taviamine:{ She smiled and leaned
against the warm green hide reaching her arms around the fragrant neck
as far as she could. **And I love you too beautiful.** she said. Those
words unexpectedly overwhelmed her and her eyes closed as she
remembered.
---Begin Flashback---
She was humming as she pulled together their dinner. She'd known there
was a flight today and knowing him he was involved. She knew she
shouldn't be jealous so she hadn't even ask whose green was making all
the noise. She took a deep breath and resolved not to ask when he
came through the door.
L'rak's stomach did flips as he entered their weyr. "Hello, dear." Did
he sound normal? He _thought_ he sounded normal.
Tavia turned and smiled. "The dining hall had your favorite tonight,
so I got enough for both of us. Wheedled a good bottle of wine from
the kitchen as well." she said and turned to poor the wine.
"Actually I ... have other plans."
She closed her eyes and set the bottle down carefully on the table.
Taking a slow breath she opened them and turned around "Plans? What
plans?"
"An old friend of mine. We made plans to catch up over dinner. It just
sort of happened. I didn't think ..." His stomach did more flips.
She relaxed, it didn't sound all that serious so she decided to just
let it slide. "Oh well that happens I guess." she said with a smile
and picked up the two glasses. Handing him one she smiled "You can
have a drink first right?" she asked as she slid an arm around his
waist and hugged him.
"Sure." He kissed the top of her head. He had to calm down, or it was
going to start to show. He just had to get through one glass of wine
and a little conversation with her, and then he could see Aradal
again.
She looked up and smiled at her handsome weyrmate. She didn't think
she'd ever been this happy. "I love you." she said spontaneously.
"I love you too," he returned automatically, although he wasn't sure
if it was the truth.
She hugged him again then sipped her wine with a twinkle and a smile.
"Go meet your friend" she said. "I'm sure he's already waiting for
you. I'll see you when you get home."
He? Well, he wasn't going to correct her. "See you later." L'rak
turned to leave and then turned back to give her a quick kiss on the
cheek. The revelations of the day had left him wondering if he still
loved Tavia, but he had no doubt that he still cared for her.
Tavia watched him go out the door and set her glass down. Then taking
her seat at the small table she began to eat her meal. **So who's
flight was it today** she asked her lifemate. }:Keilerith:{
Her fork stopped halfway to her mouth and she set it down in her
plate. "Aradal" she breathed. **and who won?** she asked. She felt a
brief surge of sympathy and love from her lifemate before she heard
the answer. }:Thaymroth:{
Tavia pushed her plate away and picked up her glass. She didn't have
any proof and she didn't want to. **This is the Weyr** she reminded
herself and things happened like that here. But he'd said he loved her
when he left. That had to be enough. But why hadn't he told her he'd
won Aradal's flight?
---End Flashback---
She opened her eyes, thats where it had started. Right there.
Thankfully Thaymroth hadn't chased her beautiful green when she'd risen
the last few times. Sawauth had always liked him }:Yes, I did mine:{
She chuckled and sent her pretty girl a giant mental hug.
"Let's go see the dolphins" she said and they took off into the
amazingly colored sky for a final spiral toward the beach and it's
pier.
"Hello!" she called as she slid off Sawauth's neck and leaped to the
ground. She approached a youngish looking journeyman dolphineer
standing near the pier. "I... uh," she felt suddenly a little shy for
some reason. Tavia tilted her head and her mouth worked as she tried
to voice her need.
"Is there something I can help you with?" the dolpineer asked.
She was embarrassed and nervous now that she was here but she had to
do it. "Well, I think I may be pregnant and would just like to be sure
so I can take precautions and talk to my wingleader as soon as
possible if I am."
"Ah, I see." Visits like this had become much more common since the
Hall had moved to the Weyr. "Let me call over one of the dolphins." A
small group was frolicking nearby and when he called two of them raced
over. The dolphineer slipped into the water and gave the dolphins
affectionate rubs. "You can swim, right?"
She smiled and nodded. He obviously hadn't been to the Weyr's more
recent waterball matches. She was on the Dolphin Cove Weyr team and
might not be as good as a dolphin but she could swim quite well. She
sat down to pull of her boots and then stood to shed the rest of her
flight gear. She didn't exactly want to fly back wet but definitely
didn't want wet leather. "Ok," she said. "What do I do?"
"Just come here close to Tibbi. She's going to check you out. Kisha is
just here because he's nosy."
"Want to seeee!" The young male said.
She slipped into the water and swam closer to the pair of dolphins.
They were beautiful and a smile lit her face.
"Hello Tibbi" she said "Very nice to meet you too Kisha."
Kisha squeed and made little splashes. Tibbi asked. "What is your
name?" She prided herself on speaking clearly.
She smiled "My name is Tavia" she looked wonderingly at the dolphineer.
"Tavia would like you to see if there's a baby inside her." The
dolphineer told Tibbi.
"I will look!" The dolphin squeed and focused on Tavia for a moment.
"There is a baby. Small baby."
"Baybeeeee!" Kisha splashed away to do flips.
She couldn't help but giggle at Kisha's antics. "Thank you Tibbi," she
said more solemnly. "Is there something I should do to thank them?"
she asked.
The dolphineer smiled. "Just thank them, and you can give them a rub.
Just watch your fingernails, they have sensitive skin." He rubbed
Tibbi's head. "And congratulations. At least, I hope this is good
news."
She reached out with her hands flat to rub and caress the dolphin like
she saw the dolphineer doing. "Thank you very much Tibbi." she smiled.
The texture was so different from her Sawauth who was curled on the
beach watching.
"Thanks," she said to the dolphineer with another smile. "I'm not
really sure yet but I'll figure it out." She rubbed the dolphin while
treading water at her side.
