Description: D'arvn and U'fouinn catch up and share a meal
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 3 of Turn 6
D'arvn strode into the weyr after pulling Falzeth's riding straps and
hanging them up. The sweep ride after the fall had gone smoothly. He
greeted Amizth with a bow and a smile. He felt his own blue greet his
mate and heard the scrabbling of the two getting comfortable.
"You here?" he called as he came through the curtains.
U'fouinn looked up and smiled. His features lighting up at the sound
of the voice he knew well. He pushed the weaving he'd been working on
off his lap as he rose to greet his mate. D'arvn hadn't even gotten
far into the room, before U'fouinn placed a hand on his chest and
leaned up to kiss him gently. "How was your day?"
"Better now" he said with a smile and another kiss. "What are you making?"
U'fouinn sighed, "It's a new pattern that Gamilta shared with me, but
shards if I can't figure it out. I've pulled the thing apart more
times that I care to admit and it still looks atrocious." He slid his
hand into D'arvn's, threading their fingers together. "Maybe you can
help me. I'm about ready to give up on the piece, otherwise."
"Sure" he said squeezing U'fouinn's hand gently. He guided him gently
back to the table where he had been working. "Where is the pattern?"
he asked.
He led him over to where he'd been working. "See, it's supposed to
look like this," U'fouinn held up a small drawing. "However, every
time I try, I end up with a line running right down the middle of the
design that just _shouldn't_ be there. I'm not sure _what_ I'm doing
wrong." He heaved a bit of a defeated sigh.
"Oh," he said as he studied the pattern for a moment then looked down
at U'fouinn's work. "Here," he said pointing at one part of the
pattern. "If you twist these two each time you cross then you'll get
the eyelet."
"Are you hungry yet?" he asked.
"That's it!" U'fouinn declared, throwing his arms around his mate's
neck and kissing him in his joy. When he pulled back he was beaming.
"I can't wait to work on the pattern again later, as for food. I'm
famished!"
D'arvn kissed U'fouinn back then chuckled, "More of that and you
aren't going to make it to the dining hall for awhile." Then he
swatted him on his bottom. "Get dressed." he said "I'm famished too."
U'fouinn lingered for just a moment, before turning with a slight
giggle and darting into the sleeping area to change. When he returned
only moments later, he was dressed and ready to join his weyrmate for
a meal. Though he _was_ sorely tempted to take him up on the _other_
offer. Perhaps that could be dessert!
D'arvn put his arm around U'fouinn possessively as they made their way
toward the dining cavern. "Lets make sure and pick up a bottle of wine
for when we get back."
"That sounds wonderful," U'fouinn replied, sliding his own arm around
D'arvn's waist. "Some days I wish we were in the same wing. At least
then we'd get to do sweeprides together. I swear that the Weyr is out
to keep us apart lately! This is the first time in days we've both
been free at the same time!" He leaned into D'arvn with a smile as he
reached his other arm to pat him on the chest. "I've missed you," he
whispered. Perhaps tonight they could make up for the time they'd not
been able to find together. U'fouinn would like _that_ very much.
D'arvn hugged his mate and kissed the side of the lovely black haired
head. "I've missed you too," he said meaning every word. He missed
U'fouinn when he had to travel and missed their nest he'd made into a
home for them both.
The dining hall was rather crowded when they arrived. "Oh, I see a
bench just over there!" U'fouinn pointed to a rather small space where
they would have to squeeze together against the wall to fit. "I don't
think I've seen this many people in the dining hall at the same time
since the Turns beginning celebrations. Whatever is going on today?
I'll go snag us those seats before they are taken." He smiled up to
his mate before darting off to snatch one of the last remaining spots
before anyone else could.
Neither of them were heavy eaters but he knew what U'fouinn liked and
piled a single plate full. Pushing his way through the crowd he put
the plate down and then reached for the pot of klah only to find it
empty. "I'll get us some more." He smiled and went to the back table
and put the empty back before grabbing a fresh one and two cups.
U'fouinn had smiled up at D'arvn as he'd arrived and then left again.
He took such good care of him. It was a wonder he'd ever been happy
before he'd met the bluerider. He picked at his plate while he waited,
not wishing to eat without his mate.
D'arvn slipped into the tight fit and compensated by putting one arm
around U'fouinn and eating with his other hand occasionally offering
him a particularly tasty looking bite.
The meal was enjoyable for the company alone. U'fouinn accepted the
tasty morsels as he ate from his own plate as well. He slipped his
hand under the table, where it rested comfortably on D'arvn's thigh,
caressing it lovingly from time to time. As he finished most of his
food, he leaned over and whispered, "I've _really_ missed you." His
hand, under the table, slid a little further to show exactly what he
meant.
"Mmmm I've missed you too," he said with a smile. "I think we need to
go back to our weyr and I'll show you how much. The roaming hand was
feeling very nice but much more and he wouldn't be able to walk out of
the dining cavern.
U'fouinn smiled seductively and moved to rise. Now _this_ was what
he'd been missing!
