Jaylene

"So, you know K'den right? Dark hair, short? Cute?" Jaylene leaned in to
P'veas conspiracy. "Do you think we could convince M'van to do on a blind
date with him?"

"I don't know," said the greenrider. "M'van does tend to prefer your type of
person."

"What? Dead sexy, luscious hair, gorgeous face? Yeah, I know but he can't
have me," she deadpanned. She looked around at the other dinners close to
them in the hall before lowering her voice and saying, "come on, you have to
help. Y'know, outside of Flight, poor little K'den_never_gets a date? Not
a one...and he's got such a sweet personality."

"Well his personality doesn't quite make up for that excuse of a nose he's
got, does it?"

"Oh, rude!" she laughed at him. "So his nose is...a bit big. But so are
his eyes! What do you say?" She gave him her best pleading look.

"I suppose you might say he had nice eyes, after a beer or three." P'veas
flashed Jaylene a grin.

"You're just begging for me to pull all that lovely hair out, aren't you?"
She mocked threatened to hit him. "I hear he's got a really good body..."

"After the lights are out and your eyes can't see any more..."

"Your hands can still feel! And besides there's better things to do when
the lights are out," Jaylene retorted.

"True, but your mind still knows what's there when the eyes don't see."

"Keep it up, boy, and you'll never see again, lights off or on." She
glared at him and did punch him on the arm. "There, hope that hurt. So you
gonna help me or not?" she pouted at him.

"I'll try," said P'veas slowly. "But no guarantees, I mean M'van might
already know him."

"Ah, here comes our boy already." Jaylene stood up and motioned to the
tall, blond rider. "M'van! Over here!"

The bluerider approached the pair. "Hi," he said by way of greeting.

"Hiya sweetie." Jaylene patted the seat next to her for him to sit
there. She glared at P'veas in what she hoped would look menacing
enough to make him go along with her scheme.

"Do I need to worry?" M'van said catching the look. Jaylene only did that
when she was planning something, he wondered if she knew that.

"Worry? You? Now why would you say that?" She pored him a dink and
smiled.

"You sound like you're after something."

She groaned and fessed up. "Okay! Yes, I sort of am...you know K'den
by any chance?"

"You mean the guy with the nose." M'van gestured, forming the shape of a big
nose.

Jaylene sighed mightily. "Since when have the two of you become so
picky? I thought you'd be desperate to shag anything that moves."

P'veas suppressed a snort, or at least he tried to. "I do alright thank you,
and I bet M'van can manage just fine on his own."

"Well M'van, if you want to possibly have a lovely time with someone
who isn't either P'veas here, or your right hand, then let me know."
Poor K'den! She sighed into her pint.

"Next you'd tell me that if he was even remotely interested in girls, you'd
be showing him that lovely time? Hmmm" M'van looked at her, the kind of look
he'd give a small child that was misbehaving.

"But of course since I can look past a..okay..rather large nose. Hey,
it's not like my nose is exactly small y'know! And he's a sweet boy
that hasn't had a look in since he transfered from Dolphin Cove." She
gave M'van her best pleading look and batted her large eyes. "Come
on..one little date? Please?"

"No. Let him find his own way." M'van said gently, yet firmly. "He's only
been here a little while, and someone in this weyr is right for him, even if
neither of us think we are."

Jaylene 'harumphed' and held up her empty glass. "Okay, if you're not
going to shag him, the least you can do is get me another pint! Lager
please."

M'van laughed. "That at least I can do."
