Morning After Woes

Writers: AL, Anaria
Date Posted: 13th June 2011

Characters: Rignaer, Zarene
Description: Rignaer and Zarene awake after their first night together
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 2, day 16 of Turn 6

Rignaer awoke bright and early, as was the norm for the Farmcrafter.
He decided to get a few more moments of sleep before starting his day,
so he rolled over, and found that he wasn't alone in his bed. After a
moment, he regained his memory of the past 24 candlemarks. He was
married now. And he didn't need to tend to the nursery for a sevenday
because he had been given some time off as a result.

Zarene lay still and quiet even though Rignaer had shifted in the bed.
It had been some time before she actually fell asleep and so when the
dawn came, she remained asleep. Still, when Rignaer move, despite her
fatigue and slumber, she shifted as well, making a small sound, then
settling back down.

Rignaer's eyelids fluttered open, and he looked at Zarene. He wasn't
certain if he was awake and pretending to sleep, or if she was
actually still sleeping. "Zarene? Are you awake? Did you want to
sleep more, or should we go get breakfast? I don't have to head back to
the nursery for a sevenday," he said.

"Huh?" Rignaer's voice made Zarene's eyes pop up and she jerked up,
her eyes darting about until it dawned on her where she was.
"Oh...uh..." She let her gaze settle on the man beside her, pink
coming into her cheeks. "W...what?"

"I was wondering if you wanted breakfast," He said, his own face
flushing. **Shards, how long is it going to be this awkward for?** He
thought to himself.

"Oh. B...breakfast...y...yes." Though Zarene couldn't say she was
really hungry. She'd just woken up and she usually didn't truly hungry
until she'd been up a little bit, but if he was, she wouldn't argue.

"Alright, I'm going to go get a quick bath and change. Feel free to
make yourself at home, alright?" He said, getting out of bed and
stretching quickly.

"Ok...kay." Zarene pushed herself up to a sitting position and drew
the sheet up to cover herself a bit. She watched him stretch and felt
the heat rise to her cheeks.

Rignaer grabbed clean clothes for himself, and disappeared into the
bathing room, where he cleaned himself off quickly. He took a bit more
time getting dressed, as he was somewhat nervous to go back out there
and face Zarene again. **C'mon now, you need to get used to having her
around,** he chided himself.

Zarene the same and hurried through getting dressed, pulling on a dull
red under dress and tying a brown bodice over it. She relaxed a little
once she was covered and then rummaged in her trunk until she found her
brush and began to pull it through her hair, casting nervous glances
toward the door.

Finally overcoming his nerves, Rignaer went back out to where Zarene
was waiting, a friendly smile on his face. "C'mon, let me show you
where the Dining Hall is," he said. He debated for a moment offering
her his elbow, but he wasn't certain how she'd handle that when they
were walking amongst strangers, so he decided against it.

"All...all r..right." Zarene managed a small smile, not quite as
bright as Rignaer's but friendly enough. She waited for him to begin
and allowed him to lead the way, following closely on his heels.
