Rating: PG-17
Her day had been for the most part like any other, except for that
fact that it was her birthingday. Thread had fallen earlier that day
and like the other riders, fighting Thread was her top priority. Then,
she'd spent a spot of time together with her children over a meal.
Other than that it was just another day. Another Turn passed, Kenza
just thanked Faranth that in that Turn she'd not lost anyone within
her family. And to boot, she'd rekindled a bit of an old romance.
True, things had cooled in that department lately, but she knew the
reason for that. D'ale's promotion made it a bit more challenging for
them to pursue anything more than a casual dalliance and even those
had been virtually non-existent in the past few sevendays. She was
seriously considering finding someone else to help her fill that need,
but truth be told, she found she really only wanted _one_ man.
D'ale looked up to see Rukbat setting and a gorgeous sunset forming.
He smiled as he finished the last of his preparations and check on
Torerath's straps. Threadfall earlier had gone well with only one
minor scoring. He'd visited the healers and was assured the dragon
would be able to fly within a couple of days. He'd done his hidework
and delivered his report to U'kaiah.
He knew he had been preoccupied recently, with good reason but today
as a bit special. **Can you please ask Solith's if her's would like
to go for a sunset ride?**
When Solith relayed the message to Kenza, she smiled. Leave it to
D'ale to think of some way to end her day in style. **Tell him we'll
meet him shortly.** She wasn't sure if he intended to take her on
Torerath or if Solith would be joining them as well. The green didn't
seem to mind either way. After making sure she was ready, she slid
onto the green's back and glided down to the Bowl, her eyes already
seeking the man she knew would be there.
He watched the pretty green float down to him in the bowl and smiled a
greeting. "Why don't you come with us. Solith had quite a workout
today, she deserves a little rest."
Kenza nodded, turning back to the green. **Go relax and rest. We'll be
back soon.**
}:Enjoy, mine. I know how much you like being with them.:{
Once Solith had taken flight again, Kenza turned back to D'ale. "So
what did you have in mind?"
His lips tilted up, "How about a ride up north to River Bluff and a
bit of fun on the beach. I have a nice picnic dinner with me."
"Fun on the beach, eh?" She asked, her brows raised slightly as she
knew what D'ale usually meant from that expression. "I could use a bit
of that and the picnic dinner too," she added with an impish grin.
"Let's go, cause I'm surely not get any younger."
He grinned at her doubtful expression and rubbed his hands together.
Then he scrambled up Torerath's side and put his hand out to Kenza.
"Let's go!"
She quickly followed, already anticipating a great evening together
with this man who had managed to steal her heart even after so many
years. She'd often wondered if she'd ever feel such deep emotions
towards any man, but D'ale, who knew her from her youth and now her
current self had managed to claim a portion of her heart. Not that she
was willing to tell him or anyone that, but Kenza knew they were true.
They lifted into the air and then /between/ to emerge hear a secluded
beach he'd discovered long ago. Soft waves sparkled with the golden
light of the very early evening. A few clouds floated in the sky
turning orange on their edges as the sinking fiery orb backlit them.
"Lovely!" Kenza called out even as the air seemed to whip her words
away from them. She took in the gorgeous scene and felt almost as
though any stress or worries she might have had were melting away with
the crashing of the waves below. Only D'ale could have known just how
much she loved scenes like this. They'd gone off and found so many
special places together in the past.
He pressed his hand against her leg to signal he'd heard and turned
his head to grin even as he gave Torerath the command to descend to
the beach. **And no dumping us in the water either... not today.**
He chuckled as the brown grumpily agreed and landed them safely away
from the water.
Sliding off the brown's back, Kenza waited for D'ale to join her. "So
what shall we do first?" She asked, her tone suggesting _exactly_ what
she had in mind. She'd been itching for a chance to be with him again,
yet he'd been more distant since his promotion.
He heard the low almost purr in her voice and knew without a doubt
what she wanted. His slow smile paired with intense eyes as he reached
for the hem of her tunic and whipped it off in one smooth move. Down
the beach he had already set up a nest for them. He swept her up into
his arms and carried her there depositing her gently. Then he pulled
off his own tunic and joined her.
Nothing could have made her birthingday end on a better note than to
find herself curled up beside the man who had been a part of her life
for so long.
As they lay together side by side, sometime later, she allowed her
fingers to trace the muscles on his chest. Looking up at him, she
smiled. "Now _that_ was the way to celebrate."
"Glad you enjoyed it... I certainly did." His fingers stroked her side
where his arm wrapped around her. It was a shame really their times
together would have to be less frequent or away from the eyes of the
rest of the wing. He couldn't jeopardize either of their positions.
The thing was, he really did care how she felt, she was more than just
a simple friend.
"More?" he grinned into her upturned face.
