He noticed her as he was queuing to get his dinner. The girl that he and C'dinin had brought in. She seemed to be sat on her own, so he thought he'd join her.

"This seat taken?" he asked as he came over carrying a tray.

"No, it isn't" Kustaava answered. She recognized the young bluerider. "You are An'dr, aren't you?"

"That's right," he said. "Ava? Wasn't it."

"That's correct" Ava nodded and looked at her plate. She wondered if he thought her unfemine because she had heaped her full. But she was hungry.

"How've you been?" he asked.

"Pretty well considering" Ava answered and grimaced, remembering her failure to impress and the dreadfull feeling of loneliness.

"You'll get there in the end," he said, hoping it sounded comforting.

"Quess so," Kustaava sounded little uncertain. "At least I'm allowed to stay and not sent back home."

"They wouldn't send anyone home. Not if you don't want to go," stated An'dr.
"But if you want to visit, I can take you?"

"You've met my father, would like to go back to him?" Ava said to his first remark. "As for the visit, it could be when he's not home and that doesn't happen often."

An'dr smiled, the candidate really was quite pretty. He was somewhat lost for words though, which lead to a long pause before he continued, "Are you going to try and apprentice here?"

Ava shook her head. "I'm too old. Besides, I wouldn't know which craft to pick up. I'm assigned to the kitchen and quite like it."

"Just so long as you are happy, that's all that matters."

"Yeah," Ava agreed. She didn't know what to say next and just studied the young blueriders face. He was really cute.

"Would you? Would you like to meet Pluserth properly?" he offered.

"That would be lovely! I haven't got a change to really meet a dragon yet. Just watched them," Ava answered with breathless, excited voice. In her mind, she pondered if she was overdoing it. How did one catch a man? Or boy in An'dr's case. "He likes people," replied An'dr.

"Tell me more about him," Kustaava asked, honestly curious.

"Well... he's reached his full growth now, he's almost as big as some of the browns. And strangely enough he likes snow."

"Snow? Where do you find snow? I've never seen snow," Ava was amazed.

"I had to take a message to the Vintner Hall, he saw it there and was fascinated."

"It must be wonderful," Ava said wistfully, "To be a dragonrider and to able to go see new places."

"It'll happen for you, Terebinth thought so."

"I hope so," Ava answered wistfully. "If it doesn't, I'll be almost as happy keeping you hungry louts fed," she added with surprising humour and pointed him with a fork.

"I am not..." he began, before realising she was teasing him. "How about, would you, would you like to go see some snow?"

"I would love to!"

"I'm sure that the Headwoman would let you go out with me for a short trip on a rest day. So long as neither of us have chores or duty."

Ava nodded. "I have a one rest day in a sevenday, even if it's not always the restday. Some one has to cook even on those days."

"Well let me know when, and I'll organise something."

"As soon as I get the new schedule," Ava promised.

"I'll look forward to it."

"So do I," Kustaava answered.
